Ripple Fiber, a regional provider in the southeast, has gotten an investment from The Post Road Group, a debt fund that focuses on digital infrastructure and real estate. Rock Wool Insulation Slabs
The infusion aims to help Ripple Fiber execute projects that will pass more than 400,000 homes nationally by December, 2025.
Ripple Fiber, which is based in Charlotte, N.C., will expand its networks in association with its “platform holding company” Glass Routes and “sister entity” HyperFiber. The size of the Post Road Group investment was not disclosed.
The Post Road Group is headquartered in Stamford, CT. It “provides construction financing and bridge loans to third-party developers and owners and owns, operates, and develops multifamily assets across the United States.” It has about $1.7 billion in assets under management.
“This transaction serves as a critical step as we move from equity to debt funding in the progress of Ripple Fiber’s business model as we aim to rapidly expand across the country,” Greg Wilson, the Founder and CEO of Ripple Fiber, said in a press release.
“It also marks a key milestone for this seasoned sponsor grouping as collaborations like these strengthen deployment strategies and timelines, allowing providers to bring future-proof fiber optic technology to more and more residents.”
Ripple Fiber is in expansion mode, which it expects to accelerate with the investment from The Post Road Group.
The Post Road Group is no stranger to investing in broadband providers.
It backs Archtop, which has engineered two acquisitions during the past couple of years. The first was In November, 2022, when it took the reins of GTel, a fiber-based voice, video and Internet provider based in Germantown, NY.
In May of last year, the company acquired Warwick Velley Telephone Co., which also is based in New York.
Another provider associated with Post Road is Surf Internet. Last July, it acquired the fiber assets of MiSignal, which is based in Howell, Mich., the county seat of Livingston County. It is a fiber provider in the Great Lakes region.
