The reaction from TikTokers were mixed, with several top-rated commenters expressing explicit disappointment with the updates.

"The best Delta ad I've seen," wrote one commenter with over 37,000 likes.

"So anyway, I just booked with Delta ! It's amazing," another TikToker commented, which has garnered over 80,000 likes.

According to the New York Post, even Southwest loyalists complained about the "cramped" cabin and seats, which appeared "thin" and "rock hard."

“The new design is based on extensive research covering customer and employee perceptions of color, comfort and their aspirations for the overall onboard experience,” the airline said in an announcement issued Friday.

Southwest partnered with Tangerine, a design firm based out of London, to reimagine the interior, according to the Post, which reported that the seats were made by RECARO, a brand specializing in motorsport racing and gaming.

"The new RECARO seats include a multi-adjustable headrest cushion for enhanced head and neck support, an intuitively designed seat for ultimate comfort while maximizing seat width and overall support,” Southwest said a statement.

According to the Post, Southwest seating was known for above-average wriggle room and was second only to competitor JetBlue at 31-32 inches of pitch, which is an industry term for the space between two seats.

"Is there an option to just stand?" another commenter on Southwest's TikTok wrote. "We are getting lawn chairs!" another Tiktoker with over 18,000 likes wrote.
