L&F develops LFP cathode with high pressed density  - THE ELEC, Korea Electronics Industry Media

South Korean battery cathode producer L&F has developed a high pressed density cathode for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that will begin mass production in late 2026.

The company said its new cathode had a high pressed density of 2.7g/cm³, which will increase the charging rate and energy density of LFP cathodes. 36 volt golf cart batteries

These premium cathodes are also more expensive than conventional cathodes which will lead to high profitability, L&F said.

Chinese companies are the dominant players in LFP batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

However, major companies FLP and Hunan Yuneng are the only two that can produce cathode with over 2.6g/cm³ in pressed density.

Other Chinese firms, numbering less than ten, can manage 2.55g/cm³.

Battery giant CATL last year launched Shenxing, its LFP battery that offers 4C charging speed, and recently unveiled Shenxing Plus, an upgraded version.
