A woman has shocked the internet after revealing the hidden room she recently found behind a bookcase in her home, and it's left social media users full of questions.
We'd all like a bit of extra space in our homes from time to time, but for TikTok user @kids_up_in_here, that wish came true when she "moved the bookcase" before removing the carpet underneath. However, moving the furniture revealed something far more sinister, as she later discovered an empty room located within the walls. prehung interior doors with glass
Despite living in the property for four years, the "hidden room" had gone unnoticed until recently when moving the bookcase forward exposed a sliding wall panel with an open door behind it.
Once the shock wore off, the TikTok user, who goes by Aurora Blazingstar, couldn't resist sharing footage of the secret room on her TikTok account, and the videos have gone viral. One of the clips, posted on March 23, has already been viewed an incredible 17.6 million times and gained more than 617,500 likes at the time of writing.
Alongside the video, she wrote in the caption: "We seriously had no idea! I noticed once the wall looked weird under the right-hand bookcase. I thought he [her partner] was lazy and running short on drywall."
Since going viral, the hidden room in the basement has shocked and amazed plenty of social media users, and they've been full of questions for the homeowner. She's been inundated with reactions, as people are desperate to find out what the couple plan on doing with the extra space, and what they may know about the previous owner.
Replying to @ItsSunnyUpHere we seriously had no idea! I noticed once the wall looked weird under the right hand bookcase. I thought he was lazy and running short on drywall. 🤣
In one follow-up video, she revealed that she'd love to turn it into her very own secret bar and lounge area, joking that she could "hide from the kids" in there. Sadly, we can't all be lucky enough to find a secret room inside our homes.
After making the discovery, thousands of people have commented on @kids_up_in_here's videos to ask questions and share their theories about the origin of the room, with more than 6,600 comments on her most viral post.
Among the responses on her video, one person wrote: "I want a secret room so bad."
Another comment reads: "Do you guys buy houses not even looking at plans and schemes of house? I honestly don't understand."
A third TikTok user responded: "you need to look into the history of this, there's gotta be some kind of explanation, old speakeasy or something?"
A fourth person joked: "Horror movies have been made with this room in mind."
