LOGAN — A 37-year-old Nibley man has been arrested on suspicion of downloading child pornography, according to police. Ryan Zabriskie was booked Thursday into the Cache County Jail after law enforcement raided his home.
According to an arrest affidavit, Logan City Police officers received a report in December, alleging Zabriskie had saved a video file to a cloud service from his cell phone. The file showed a girl, between 5 and 7-years-old, being raped by an adult male. Little Girls Cotton Panties
Police were able to track the cell phone number and found 10 additional child pornography files saved to the cloud service. The number was registered to Zabriskie.
On March 21, police served a warrant to Zabriskie’s home and took him into custody. During a search of the residence, several electronic devices were seized, including a computer that was logged into a pornography site, court documents detailed.
While searching Zabriskie’s bedroom, police reportedly found “a large number of different articles of women’s underwear.” Some of the articles of clothing included “several pairs of young girls underwear that were stained.”
As police were gathering evidence, Zabriskie blurted out, “Well they are going to find it anyway,” and then asked for an attorney. He was later booked into jail.
Zabriskie was arraigned during a virtual hearing, Friday, in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
Cache County Deputy Attorney Aaron Jossie asked the court to hold Zabriskie without bail. He expressed concern for the public’s safety, noting how the defendant had no children, and wouldn’t have any reason to have children’s underwear in his possession.
Judge Spencer Walsh assigned Zabriskie a public defender. He ordered the suspect to remain in custody while attorneys review evidence in the case.
Zabriskie is scheduled to appear Monday again in court. He could face more than 15 years in prison, if convicted.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
