Updated January 25th, 2024: Nike now adds a Dunk Low to its collection of lace Swoosh kids offerings, pictured below.
Shoelaces on sneakers are as standard of an option as they come, but did you ever imagine it presented like this? Nike is getting a bit playful with the iconic Swoosh logo by placing colorful shoelaces over the check.
Reminiscent of all the custom sneakers that were made during the DIY sneaker craze of the late 2010s and early 2020s, these Nike footwear options for children harken back to that high-creativity era sparked by the design trends of that era. Using an uncharacteristic all-white Air Force 1 and Air Max 1 as the base canvas, Nike spruces up these 1980s classic by crocheting thick SB-style laces over the logo using colors across the spectrum. Nike achieves this fun detail by poking giant holes in the shape of Carolyn Davidson’s design and slipping the string through to create the dimensional look.
Available only in kids sizes, this upcoming collection by Nike is set to arrive soon this Spring/Summer season.
