HOUSTON (KIAH) — Dog biting is more common than you may think. According to the American Veterinary Association, every year, close to 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs.

Statistics also show that over 800,000 get medical treatment after the dog bite. There are several reasons that can cause a dog to bite such as stress, hunger, fear, sickness or even soreness from an injury. Because of this behavior, Harris County Public Health is urging pet owners to keep your dogs and cats restrained or leashed in unincorporated areas of Harris County.
