Questions over whether a visual effects artist knowingly provided inaccurate information to the US Copyright Office require that his copyright suit against Valve be stayed, a federal judge said.

Trevor K. Baylis said he was a joint author of the film “Iron Sky,” created and produced in Finland, but Valve asserted to the US District Court for the Western District of Washington that a Finnish court had already ruled against Baylis’ copyright claims and that he didn’t mention the that ruling when he was asked for “‘complete and accurate authorship information’” in the course of applying for US copyright registration. ...
