SIDNEY, Ohio (Dayton Business Journal) -- Two large-scale mixer manufacturers are in the final stages of merging. The companies, Peerless Food Equipment and Shaffer Manufacturing, have been merged under the name Coperion. Coperion was a food company bought by Hillenbrand 10 years ago and they were absorbed into that umbrella. pesticide mixer

Both companies are known for creating horizontal mixers for industrial bakeries. These mixers are large enough to hold two to three thousand pounds of dough. The mixers can be priced from anywhere from $400,000 up to $2 million.

In 2022, both companies were acquired by Hillenbrand, and in 2023, efforts began to merge the two companies under one name and under one roof. The question was which roof?

“The building here in Sidney, which is the former Peerless Food Equipment, was large enough, and we owned the building, so all of the operations for both businesses are being combined to this location,” said Robert Van Volkenburg, senior site controller for Coperion, formerly Peerless Food Equipment.
