A wireless handheld ultrasound machine at the Perugia hospice

The Amici di Simone association has donated a latest generation wireless handheld ultrasound machine to the Perugia hospice.A "technological device ahead of its time" defined it by Susanna Perazzini, manager of the structure located in the Santa Margherita park. The ultrasound, model Cerbero 4.0-B-Matrixsound worth 3,600 euros, is used "for diagnostic tests, for the positioning of vascular accesses and to improve the quality of life of patients", she added. The donation was made official in a meeting organized in the Paolo Pannacci room, inside the hospice. The equipment, which can also be used at home, will allow specialists to guarantee a service that would otherwise have to be provided in a specialist facility or hospital, thus causing discomfort to the patient. The Amici di Simone association was founded in 2016 in memory of Simone Famiani, who died at the age of 37 in the hospice. His wife Laura Malizia and his friends created the group "which takes care of cancer patients and their families", without ever forgetting the hospice."A relationship of esteem was also born with Dr. Perazzini and the team that manages the hospice" she said."Our mission - Malizia further explained - is to take care of cancer patients and to support their families by providing both psychological and material support".There have been various donations made over the years. The last is that of the ultrasound, a device capable of interfacing with all smartphones."A response to the needs of the structure", it was underlined. The donation includes the training of two operators with a dedicated course.
