California-based brewing, filling and dispensing equipment manufacturer Torr Industries has acquired a majority stake in Gunga LLC, the company that owns and markets the Brew Bomb brand of coffee brewing equipment. alpha brewery equipment
With consolidated manufacturing, the merged companies will maintain existing cold brew equipment and dispensing brands.
They also plan to bring new products to life in response to the rapidly growing market for house-made coffee concentrates — i.e. concentrates typically created to replace traditional espresso for popular drinks such as “iced lattes.”
Torr declined to disclose specific financial terms of the acquisition.
Brew Bomb President Raymond Buerger will now lead the Torr coffee products division as a partner in the business, while helping to develop new products. Torr President and CEO Timothy Orr, who holds a majority share in Torr, will lead engineering and manufacturing efforts.
Brew Bomb’s sales and support staff will remain in the Denver area, while its administration and manufacturing will move to Torr’s facilities in Redding, California.
“Our vision for Torr Industries’ coffee product systems is to be the global leader in cold extraction equipment,” Orr said in an announcement of the deal. “We listen to the market and respond with vigor to provide solutions. It is in this spirit that we have agreed to merge with Brew Bomb.”
Both Torr and Brew Bomb have played prominently in the escalation of commercial cold brew in recent years.
Torr, which was founded in 2008 and has 38 employees, offers a broad range of commercial and industrial brewing solutions through its Hive line of products. The company most recently rolled out a countertop espresso replacement concentrate system called the Hive Cafe. The company also specializes in bag-in-box equipment, among other filling and dispensing solutions.
Brew Bomb blasted onto the coffee equipment scene with the 2017 release of its X45 commercial cold brew system. The company also launched a countertop commercial brewer platform called ACE in 2020, before expanding its product line to include a dispenser solution.
Both Torr and Brew Bomb will be at the upcoming SCA Expo in Chicago on April 12-14, in booths 2502 and 1839, respectively. Find DCN’s complete 2024 SCA Expo coverage here.
