Company officials selected Schneider from hundreds of teachers who submitted designs for their dream classroom.

Schneider designed a versatile space that would make it easy for kids to move around and switch between different activities for math and language arts. Her students helped with the design.

“They have a favorite part of their design which is our giant rug that will go in the middle of our classroom," Schneider said. "We start every day with our morning meeting, and we spend about 20 minutes sitting on the floor. They will have a giant rug and some individual cushions that will go around that for them to start their day out with every day.”

Furniture maker KI company officials will award four winners $40,000 worth of furniture.

A public vote on the internet ended Wednesday with Schneider hoping to beat out two other finalists in her geographic region.
