After a long day, there’s no better feeling than lounging on the couch and eating your favorite bag of chips. However, after a few handfuls (or maybe a few dozen, no judgment here), you decide it’s time to wrap up the chips and put them away until tomorrow. For some people, this looks like rolling up the bag and hoping it stays semi-shut or digging through the junk drawer to find a chip clip. But now, there’s a better solution.
This mini bag sealer is one of the best gadgets on Amazon. It helps keep your favorite foods fresh and last longer. Don’t believe us? TikTok users have put this kitchen gadget to the test and are running to buy more ASAP. Here’s what you need to know about this game-changing gadget.
Palm-sized and powered by included AA batteries, this tiny handheld device will have you heat sealing every single plastic bag you come across, from family-sized snack bags to mail-worthy packages and everything in between.
This mini bag sealer is a lightweight handheld heat tool that creates an airtight seal on plastic bags and other storage materials. It comes in four colors: pink, black, white and green. It has a tiny blade on one side to open bags and a heating element on the other side that serves as a bag sealer. The best part? It’s small enough to take with you on the go. And it can blend into your kitchen, thanks to the included lanyard and magnet that allow it to stick on the fridge or hang on a hook for easy access.
The sealer comes equipped with two AA batteries (this bag sealer doesn’t have a USB rechargeable option, unfortunately). Simply insert them inside the device, and it’s ready to go. When it’s time to seal up that bag of chips, cookies or crackers, simply press the upper cover and glide the mini bag sealer across the sides of the open bag to create a seal. Then, the next time snack time rolls around, flip up the front switch to reveal a mini blade that reopens the closed bag.
The mini bag sealer requires no preheat time and instantly reaches the sealing temperature for quick use. The brand recommends using the sealer on coated aluminum foil bags and other similar bags that aren’t thicker than 0.3 millimeters. The gadget does not work on paper bags.
When you’re done, the mini bag sealer has a security slide that locks it up, preventing fingers (and anything else you stick into it) from getting crushed. It also prevents the heating element to turn on accidentally, making it safe between uses.
TikTok users can’t seem to get enough of this mini bag sealer. Tons of viral videos show people using this handy gadget to solve a common kitchen problem. One TikTok user, @justicebuys, posted a video of himself sealing up a bag of Hershey Kisses and has racked up over two million views. Sweet!
We spent a few weeks with the Romsto Mini Bag Sealer, trying it out on just about everything we opened. Granted, that largely meant we were resealing snacks and other food bags, but it was a fairly wide range of materials. Per the brand’s instructions, we stuck with using it on coated aluminum foil and other similar bags thicker than 0.3mm (it’s important to note that the sealer doesn’t work well with extremely thin plastic, like cling wrap, either—it just melts and gunks up the device).
Along with using it on human food bags, we tried it on some pet food bags and plastic bags used for dry goods storage (like arts and craft supplies). For the most part, it worked very well—sealing just about every plastic bag we tried it on. But it wasn’t perfect; it can be tough to get started, and you sometimes have to go back over your starting point to ensure there’s not a small gap (about a quarter inch was often left unsealed).

If you want your snack bags to be airtight when sealed instead of just rolled over and clipped, they can absolutely be worth it. This device is great for keeping dry food fresh, even after opening it. It’s also so inexpensive that it’s probably worth trying for yourself to find out for sure.
Impulse sealers, like the mini bag sealer you see here, are designed simply to reseal opened plastic bags. Vacuum sealers, by contrast, remove all the air from inside the bag before sealing it, which is a longer, more intensive process but adds an extra level of preservation.
While it is possible to DIY reseal plastic bags without an impulse sealer, it can be a relatively complicated, intensive process involving using a hot iron. As the mini bag sealer costs only about $10, we recommend against the DIY project in favor of this inexpensive, approachable, easy-to-use device.
Still not convinced? This handheld gadget has thousands of five-star ratings and reviewers don’t know how it took them so long to get their hands on this product.
5-star reviewer Bw loves everything about this vacuum sealer and even calls it a staple item in their kitchen. “My grandkids have a habit of opening their snack sized chip bags and only eating half, so I’d end up throwing the other half away. Now, I can reseal the chips and keep them fresh, knowing they’ll come back to eat them after they play. It feels like doubling my money.”
Another verified Amazon purchaser, alejandra, loves how easy it is to use. “This product is very portable, making it easy to seal bags on the go! It is also magnetic, this allows it to be easily accessible from your fridge or any magnetic surface.”
If you're tired of all your chips and other snacks going stale, this mini bag sealer will let you close those bags up tight so its like opening them fresh for the first time every time. It's super easy to use, runs on AA batteries and is even pocket-sized.
The mini bag sealer costs around $10 at Walmart and Amazon. Add it to your cart, and kiss those stale chips goodbye!
