Some clothes just aren’t meant for the wash, and who wants constant trips to the dry cleaner? If your home is full of designer blouses, raw denim, or finicky dry-clean-only quilts, then you've got another option. Skip the dry cleaning process altogether and invest in a steam closet.

A steam closet functions as an at-home dry cleaning machine that removes stains without toxic solvents. Built for daily use and installation alongside your washing machine and dryer, these machines steam clean hard-to-clean items, reduce pet dander and allergens, and can be used for daily touch-ups.

The best steam closets revitalize garments, taking care of delicate fabrics and giving you dry-clean quality right at home.

Here are three steam closets we love to add to your at-home laundry setup.

The LG Styler is compact and can only accommodate three articles of clothing at a time while steaming.

Good at refreshing lots of fabric types, the LG Styler might just be your first stop when you step through the front door. The appliance is compatible with garments and linens, like traditional dry-clean-only blouses and jackets and bedding covered in pet dander.

The LG Style can also gently dry and care for garments such as wool coats or puffers after a day in the snow.

The steam closet can hold up to three special moving hangers (it ships with two). These jostle back and forth as the closet steams, ensuring better steam penetration, while shaking out wrinkles.

Designed with smart controls that link the LG Styler to the ThinQ app on your smartphone, you might find yourself loading it before bed, and triggering a cycle from your phone while you schedule your morning espresso. Simple controls are also available on the front.

The steam closet features a dryer sheet replacement slot on the top. You have the option to load any scent of your choosing by simply spraying the included fabric sheet with your favorite perfume or cologne. The scent will then circulate throughout the closet.

The LG Styler sports a 10-year warranty on the motor, and is also certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

The Styler costs about as much as 142 dry cleaning jobs (assuming your dry cleaner charges $7 for a dress). It makes up for its price over time, and with immense convenience.

In fact, the Styler has become a lot more financially accessible than it was when we first started following it. We’re pleased to see it, because its steaming potential remains impressive.

Tuck it into a walk-in closet and never make another trip to the dry cleaner again.

Samsung is known for including advanced technology with their appliances. With the help of Wi-Fi, you can control your Bespoke AirDresser's cycles and functions right from your smartphone.

In the world of appliances, Samsung Bespoke is a name that connotes quality and smart functionality, as well as designer looks, and that luxury extends to the Samsung Bespoke AirDresser, another great option for an at-home dry cleaner.

Designed with a smooth mirrored finish, the Samsung AirDresser is a striking steam closet that you’ll want to install centrally—rather than tucking away by the freezer in the car port.

This steam closet can handle up to five hangers. It features a novel “extra-length zone,” which is scooped on the left side, enabling you to steam full-length coats and quilts without any bunching at the bottom.

Samsung is known for smart controls, and the AirDresser delivers. Not only does the machine feature Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to start cycles and switch between sanitizing and refreshing modes on your phone, but it also features an AI that learns and recommends your favorite settings, allowing you to bypass menu pathways and get right to the functions you use most.

The AirDresser also features a somewhat novel dehumidifying feature that not only dries your clothes, it dehumidifies your room. Leave the closet’s door open and turn this on, to suck the moisture out of your home’s air.

The AirDresser steam closet features a two-year parts and labor warranty.

Although it isn't available for purchase just quite yet, this luxe appliance can properly care for low and high quality items.

GE is entering the steam closet market with its new GE Profile Steam Closet with Fabric Refresh, coming to the U.S. in September 2023.

Designed for sanitizing and refreshing, the GE Profile is a dry cleaner alternative built to handle delicate, plush objects like Teddy bears and dog toys, as well as luxury items like designer jeans and leather jackets.

From what we’ve seen, GE’s steam closet features a slick carbon black exterior, a clothes-hanger rack along the interior top, and a multi-use rack toward the interior bottom.

Like other steam closets, it is expected to be compatible with any 120-volt outlet and use a refillable water reservoir rather than requiring a water hookup.
