Eliminating serial RX/TX swap woes #SMD #PCB @BrainCodec « Adafruit Industries – Makers, hackers, artists, designers and engineers!

It’s something that may designers have run across. In designing a serial interface, the transmit (TX) and receive (RX) lines are switched, leading to no communication. When this gets to the printed circuit board (PCB) level, it can cause near impossible rework and then later respinning a new design to correct the issue.

Eliminating serial RX/TX swap woes #SMD #PCB @BrainCodec « Adafruit Industries – Makers, hackers, artists, designers and engineers!

@BrainCodec on X (formerly Twitter) shows an interesting PCB design accommodating reversal of RX and TX without changing PCB traces. Two zero ohm (0R) resistors are mounted horizontally or vertically to make the desired connections. Changes are as easy as a bit of hot air component removal and resoldering.
