According to a report by Sky, Mats Hummels may leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. The reason? The former Bayern Munich defender refuses to work with Edin Terzić any longer — the relationship between the coach and and the player is completely severed. But the bosses have been skeptical for some time about whether the Rio World Champion should be extended at all. The Elephant Round will meet this week to discuss this issue.

Secondly — once again, we have reports that senior figures in the BVB dressing room are feuding with Edin Terzić with their futures on the line. The last time this happened, it was Marco Reus in the crosshairs — ending with the 35-year-old opting to make this season at BVB his last. Will Hummels share the same fate, or will he succeed in getting Terzić replaced by someone else?
It’s worth asking whether sacking Terzić would even make a difference. Hummels is a player notorious for falling out with coaches no matter which team he plays for. Other than Jurgen Klopp, it’s hard to find a coach that Hummels actually liked. At Bayern, he was one of the “kingslayers” responsible for getting Carlo Ancelotti sacked, then later fell out with Niko Kovač which prompted his move back to BVB. Once there, he kept up his usual shenanigans — culminating in this most recent spat with Terzić.
Will BVB leadership give into his demands? Or will they chose to move on, and let both Reus and Hummels leave the team in the same summer? We’ll have to wait and see.
