That’s all that Apple is saying on its official specs page, but a series of certifications from China confirms that Apple has dramatically upped the charging speed potential on the iPhone 16 series – peaking at 45W.

As per the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), iPhone 16 (A3288), iPhone 16 Plus (A3291), iPhone 16 Pro (A3294), and iPhone 16 Pro Max (A3297) all support charging at 5-15 volts and 3 amps. This means up to 45W peak charging speeds which would be a notable improvement over the outgoing iPhone 15 series devices which topped out at 27-29W.

This means the new iPhones should be able to take advantage of higher-powered chargers using the power delivery (PD) standard. It remains to be seen if this will deliver a meaningful improvement in 0-100% charging times.
