The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed part of a nationwide catalytic converter bust is happening in northeast Oklahoma. Authorities say the biggest target in Oklahoma is in Coweta. Nonintumescent Support Mat
DHS says other busts are going on around the country in places such as New Jersey, New York, Texas and Minnesota. Local, state and federal agencies are working together on these busts.
Lennea Montandon, with the United States Department of Justice, says the investigation is being carried out in Coweta and Wagoner County.
According to the Wagoner County Assessor's Office the building FOX23 saw being raided is registered to JT Wholesale Auto out of Coweta. The car lot is located next door to the blue building where Wednesday's raid took place.
In 2020, catalytic converter theft claims jumped massively to 14,433, a 325% increase in a single year, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
