This replacement provides a stable and reliable electricity supply for the delivery of the school’s daily learning activities benefiting approximately 87 students and eight teachers.

The new four-unit battery bank also provides the system with a 25% power increase. This significantly lowers the school’s carbon footprint and dependence on a fossil-fuel generator to power the school and teacher’s quarters.

Head Teacher of the Hackney Primary School, Ms. Glenda English, expressed sincere gratitude to the GEA team, stating that “With the repair of the system, Teachers and Students are now afforded the opportunity to participate in the Ministry of Education’s Interactive Radio Instruction (IRI) Mathematics programme”.

The upgraded batteries of the 9.6 kWh BESS system cost four hundred and fifteen thousand, six hundred and eighty dollars (G$415,680) and are rated at 12 Volts; increasing the former 200Ah units capacity of the entire 0.5kWp Solar PV System.
