Woman Brings Outdated IKEA Hemnes Shoe Cabinet Straight Into the 21st Century - Dengarden News

As much as we may have loved the farmhouse trend while it was popular, the time has come to say goodbye. We watched as many creators DIYed their basic IKEA furniture pieces to match the minimalistic beige farmhouse aesthetic but now that 2024 is almost halfway over (yeah.. crazy right?) it's time for something new.

One thing about IKEA furniture? They are incredibly forgiving pieces. Even if you transformed them to match one aesthetic, they can easily be refurbished into something new.  slat bed

Watch as this women says goodbye to her farmhouse vibe and welcomes in a sleek modern look with just a few touches.

TikTok user @champagne.chaos has proved herself to be one of the internet's favorite DIY creators with her account receiving nearly 5 million total likes!

From installing wallpaper to building her own bunkbed, this girl is an expert and will take on just about any type of project. So an IKEA piece refurbish? This was a piece of cake!

She has been hanging on to an IKEA Hemnes shoe cabinet for a while now and even though she originally gave it the farmhouse aesthetic, she's ready for something new and updated. Here's what she decided to change!

We all know curved furniture is huge right now and this creator wanted to add a bit of that vibe to her cabinet. Taking some 2x2s, she glued the boards along the back sides of the cabinet frame and then came her bendable plywood. She secured one side of the plywood to the front and bent it back to the 2x2, using quarter round dowels to secure it in place in the front. This way the cabinet would now be secured to the wall.

To make a curved top, she rounded out the edges of another board and screwed it onto the top of the cabinet.

Now for the details! She filled in any gaps with caulk and then got started on the paint color, which she decided would be black. You can't get any more modern that that!

For the shoe cabinet faces, she really went all out. Already an expert at woven furniture, she first painted the cabinets black and then woven on a simple basket pattern to each front.

The before and after is wild! We are loving the combo of the black paint and woven texture.
