Fashion’s shift to the “comfort is king” philosophy over the past few years has got me jonesing for ways to upgrade even the most basic wardrobe essentials. The cozier and more luxurious, the better. So, if it comes in cashmere, I want it—sweatpants, sweaters, beanies and, of course, socks. In fact, sporting a pair of plush cashmere socks (like these by Graham Cashmere, $60, or these over-the-knee numbers by Garnet Hill, $34) now feels more like a form of self-care than a decadent splurge.
If you’re looking to expand your collection of super-soft footwear, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve searched the market and looked at over 40 pairs to narrow down the 20 best cashmere socks money can buy. I've even pitted some of our favorite brands based on our experience with their cashmere sweaters and cardigans. (Trust me, your feet will thank you.)

1. Falke Sensual Cashmere Crew Socks
I have to admit, I’d never think to call socks “sensual,” but the incredibly soft and lightweight cotton, polyamide and cashmere blend these beauties are made of offers a tactile experience that definitely lives up to their name. Woven in a mesh construction to ensure they hug your feet and won’t sag throughout the day, these socks also offer serious breathability. As one buyer adds, the “seamless toe does not bind or crowd toes,” so you can expect all-around comfort.
This dreamy pair of ribbed socks has been hand-knitted in Scotland, with a slouchy fit that will look adorable popping out of the top of your winter boots or bunched around your ankles while padding around the house. The slouch factor is due to the sumptuous 100 percent cashmere construction, meaning they’re not blended with another fabric to retain their shape. But if you’re into the relaxed look and want your feet to experience what one reviewer calls “sliding into heaven,” these are for you.
These wool-cashmere hybrid socks will keep your feet nice and toasty. They are thick enough to wear as slippers around the house (as we often do), and have a fold-down ankle that you can effortlessly tuck into booties if you can’t bear to take them off when you head out. Better yet, they’re also woven with a touch of elastane to hold their shape and stay stretched around your ankles. BTW, they’re imported from Italy, so they’d make a great stocking stuffer for someone who loves a little luxury (including you, of course).
4. Bombas Merino Cashmere Blend Calf Socks
A blend of merino wool combined with cashmere makes these socks just as warm as they are cozy. "It also provides structure, so you're not constantly adjusting your socks throughout the day, and they really hug and support your feet," says Candace Davison, PureWow's VP of editorial content. Each pack of three comes with a multitude of colorways that will pop under loafers or dress shoes, and the ribbed pattern adds some elegance. Plus, Bombas's buy one, donate one model applies to these luxurious socks, so you can feel good about your purchase, too.
Reviewers can’t get enough of these “sublimely soft” high-end socks, which have earned dozens of 5-star ratings across the board. This pair is made from 85 grams of cloudlike cashmere, making up 95 percent of their construction, with a dash of spandex for comfortable stretch and sturdy shape. Add to that the maximum breathability that comes with their looser 5-gauge knit, and you can bet they’ll always keep your toes comfortably toasty but never overheated. What more could you ask for?
6. Johnstons of Elgin Ribbed Cashmere Socks
Available in a set of three, these ribbed cashmere socks are designed to have a slimmer fit that won’t slouch or bunch in your shoes, so you can sport them both inside the house and out on the town. I love the thoughtful craftsmanship of the reinforced heels and toes, which indicate that you should get your money’s worth out of these pairs, despite them being priced at the higher end of our list.
7. J.Crew Cashmere Trouser Socks
When you’re looking for an investment item, we know the first choice is generally a neutral for maximum wearability. However, the vibrant color options of J.Crew’s cashmere-blend socks have the power to lift our spirits (and inject some fun into our looks) on even the grayest of winter days. Whether you slip ‘em into boots or loafers for a flash of color, you’ll also appreciate their smoothly reinforced heel and toe, as well as the fact that they won’t slide down or overheat your foot, per shoppers. “So soft, cozy, foot-hugging and not too thick for shoes,” writes one reviewer. “No sweaty feet, either.”
I was surprised to learn that one of our editors' favorite minimalist jewelry brands also sells luxurious socks (among other home and fashion wares). It turns out they’re just as fabulous as Catbird’s dainty rings and necklaces. While the simple, cozy design is enough to get my attention, I also love the ethos behind the sourcing of these 100 percent cashmere beauties. According to the brand, its supplier “works directly with the nomadic herders” and promises clean-energy production, fair wages, healthier goats and more sustainable grazing practices, which makes me feel even better about snuggling into these babies.
9. Falke Lhasa Wool and Cashmere Dress Socks
The softness of cashmere isn’t just for women—men deserve to treat their feet, too! These wide-ribbed trouser socks are blended with a high percentage of merino wool to ensure that they’re both durable and extra warm, and as a bonus, they’re machine-washable to boot. Reviewers love that they come in an XL size, meaning that even guys with larger feet can experience the super luxe snuggliness of these beauties.
These cozy knit bed socks are made of a whopping 75 percent cashmere, ensuring your feet get the princess treatment. They're thin enough to wear with sneakers or loafers for some extra coziness without feeling like your toes are overheating. Just note that these high-end socks require dry cleaning to keep the material intact.
These classic cashmere crew socks come in multiple hues and are unisex, so you can pick up a few pairs for you and your partner to match. They hit the low-calf point, so they’ll fit easily into your shorter boots and booties, but their thicker weight also makes them great for cozying up around the house. Each pair is ethically and sustainably made from high-quality Mongolian cashmere, per the brand, so you can feel as good on the inside as your feet feel on the outside. As warm and comfy as they are, according to reviewers, you may not want to wear them as everyday socks, as shoppers add that they’re prone to pilling.
12. Ralph Lauren Ribbed Cashmere-Blend Dress Socks
These lightweight socks are handmade in Italy with 94 perfect cashmere for the ultimate coziness. While you won't get the classic polo logo on the side, you will get impeccable craftsmanship and a think ribbed construction for longterm durability and coziness. Available in several colorways, the luxe designer label also makes them a great choice for gifting.
13. Alo Cashmere Jet Set Socks
Alo is renowned for its comfy-yet-stylish workout gear—seriously, the brand’s leggings are buttery soft—so it's really no surprise that it produces cashmere socks that feel equally cozy. Customers love these socks and say that they “wear them constantly,” from meditation sessions to running errands, and add that they “hold their shape very well” thanks to the double-thick ribbed cuffs.
14. J.Crew Leopard Brushed Cashmere Socks
Leopard print is making a huge comeback this season, and you can deck yourself in it from head to toe (literally) with these fun socks. They're super soft with a cashmere blend and will be fun to pop out of an otherwise minimalist look. The cashmere used is also AbTF's The Good Cashmere Standard certified, ensuring ethically produced cashmere from farmers and farmworkers in Inner Mongolia, so you can purchase it ethically as well.
15. The Elder Statesman Hot Yosemite Cashmere Socks
Yes, these may be the most expensive socks on our list, but the thick, heavyweight cashmere knit is a specialty of The Elder Statesman. Each pair is handcrafted in the brand's California workshop, and is designed to keep your tootsies perfectly toasty. If you really want to splurge, these socks are probably the closest you can come to wrapping your foot in a real cashmere sweater.
16. Stems Cotton and Cashmere Crew Socks
Take luxe cashmere and combine that with lightweight cotton and what do you get? A ridiculously cozy, yet perfectly lightweight pair of socks you'll want to wear 24/7. Thanks to their mostly cotton construction, these babies should be comfy, breathable and durable enough to wear on the daily. As a bonus, they come in a set of three and are machine-washable, so you can easily keep them in rotation.
17. Garnet Hill Cashmere Knee-High Socks
Three words: soft, supple and warm. I’ll be channeling my inner Cher from Clueless all winter long in these 100 percent cashmere thigh-high socks that should hit just above the knee. You can wear them with your fave pair of high boots, under your pants on super chilly days or by themselves when you're lounging around the house. With 10 hues to choose from, you may be tempted to grab more than one pair.
Affordable cashmere? Fine, we'll bite. These ribbed trouser socks are made from luxurious Mongolian cashmere blended with polyester and elastic to hold their shape, and have a tighter-knit, 12-gauge construction for insulated warmth. Quince’s products are ethically produced, and follow transparent pricing, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. In this case, it’s “a wonderful daily trouser sock,” per one reviewer. “They are a slim fit with no padding, the perfect height, weight and color.” And yes, they’re unisex, so you can pick a pair up for your partner or loved one, too.
As if cashmere wasn't darling enough, these socks add a little pop of color with a sly stripe on the top. Just what you need to make your office-wear a little more fun. Even better, the cashmere used is certified to the AbTF's The Good Cashmere Standard that ensures it was ethically made in Inner Mongolia. Your feet and soul will thank you.
Ok, so I know these aren’t cashmere, but reviewers say they’re as cozy as the real thing. If you love the soft, snuggly feel of cashmere, but also need your socks to be machine washable and dryable, these socks are your best bet. Made partially of bamboo fibers to ensure a temperature-regulating wear, reviewers say they’re “wonderfully soft” and “fit beautifully.” Given their mostly polyester percentage, they should also be durable enough to wear as often as you please, all year-round.
What you’re looking for in a pair of cashmere socks depends on their intended use:
The key factors to consider are: fabric blend (higher synthetic is less warm, but retains shape better), length (boot vs. shoe use), and price (whatever fits your budget is the way to go, although that might mean a lower percentage of cashmere).
Just keep in mind the downsides to cashmere socks: They are more delicate than some made of more rugged fibers, so they’re not the right choice for more active days or athletic pursuits. The higher the cashmere percentage, the less likely they are to be machine-washable, and they may require extra care to maintain their look and quality.
Some of the socks on this list are machine-washable, however the majority of cashmere socks require a little more attention than just a toss into the washing machine.
