The Park Rapids City Council on Tuesday, May 28 awarded the bid to recondition the Hatch Avenue water tower to BRZ Coatings, Inc., of Watauga, Texas, for $432,400.

“He did contact references,” she said, “as this is one company we had not utilized in the past, and the references came back good. So, he is recommending utilizing BRZ Coatings to repaint the water tower, and any repairs that are necessary, with KLM Engineering being the inspecting firm.”
In a letter to Weasner included in the council’s packet, Olson wrote that all references provided by BRZ reported positive experiences with the company and said they would hire the BRZ again.
Other bids on the project came from Tanksco Inc., Viking Industrial Painting, Classic Protective Coatings Inc., Maguire Iron Inc. and TMI Coatings Inc. in amounts ranging from $437,100 to $773,500.
Council member Tim Little’s motion to award the bid to BRZ Coatings passed 5-0.
