Primera Technology Inc., a leading manufacturer of specialty color printers, has released Eddie, the world's first and only NSF and GMP-certified edible ink printer for decorating cookies, candy and other food items.
Eddie streamlines the edible printing process for cookies, candies, white chocolate, biscuits, macarons and more. The printer can produce a dozen 3.5-inch cookies in just two minutes. A built-in carousel feeder automatically rotates cookies into position, prints and returns them — all hands-free. minion cotton candy
Printed items are dry and ready for sale immediately. Images are bright, vibrant, smudge-resistant and even color-matched to ICC Color Standards, making Eddie a professional-grade printer in its category.
Eddie can print on various food surfaces, including specific frostings, directly onto cookies or biscuits. While bakeries can develop custom glazes, Primera offers bulk frosting mix for optimal results. Pre-frosted sugar cookies are also available for bulk purchase.
Out of the box, Eddie accommodates items from 3 to 3.5 inches with a maximum thickness of .75 inches. Custom trays can be purchased to expand the range to 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
Personalization is a growing trend, and Eddie offers new revenue opportunities for bakeries, amusement parks and other businesses:
Eddie distinguishes itself with a focus on safety. While edible ink printers have existed for photo cakes, none held third-party safety certifications, potentially leaving producers liable.
Designed to meet regulatory requirements, Eddie has secured approvals in the U.S., Canada, and Europe with additional certifications pending globally. Notably, Eddie is the first digital edible ink printer to achieve NSF certification, a mark valued by consumers and regulatory agencies.
Eddie's inks comply with FDA food additive standards. The ink cartridge and its filling process are also independently certified to meet cGMP standards.
Eddie is available now for $2,995 from Primera's Authorized Resellers and Distributors worldwide. Installation, training and on-site services are available through a select group of food industry equipment resellers for an additional charge.
