Report: JDE Peet’s Sustainability Head Says Company Racing to Meet EUDR Law
The vice president of sustainability for JDE Peet’s, one of the world’s largest coffee companies, told Reuters that the company is racing to meet the new European Union deforestation-free (EUDR) requirements for coffee prior to the Dec. 31, 2024, enforcement deadline. “It’s clear the timeline is very, very tight. We’re doing what we can to finish on time,” Laurent Sagarra told the news organization. JDE Peet’s is a member of the European Coffee Federation, which earlier this year urged European legislators to delay enforcement of the law.
Specialty Coffee Association Releases 2023 Annual Report
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) published its annual report for 2023, showing a financial rebound from the COVID-19 era. The world’s largest coffee trade organization, which is currently revising its membership model, said it has built an equity of approximately US$12.5 million, compared to a negative equity of $1.8 million during the pandemic.
V-Auction Hosting Gems of Araku Green Coffee Auction
V-Auction, the new online auction brand owned by Vollers following the acquisition of the Sensible Development online auction platform, has opened registration for Gems of Araku. The India-focused auction is the first since the acquisition.

Greenville-based coffee roaster-retailer Methodical Coffee is expanding into downtown Columbia, S.C. The two-story, 3,400-square-foot location is expected to open later this fall.
Korea’s Camel Coffee Opening First U.S. Location in LA
South Korean coffee chain Camel Coffee is opening its first U.S. location in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. The coffee shop space was formerly occupied by Cafe Caravan, according to an Eater report.
Aramse Coffee Relaunching the Sofi Manual Brewer
Aramse Coffee is relaunching the Sofi, its popular manual brewing device that reimagines the traditional South Indian Filter brewer. The newest Sofi model reflects new in-house manufacturing, with higher-gauge steel and new air vents to prevent brews from stalling. The price is now $40.
Ka’u Coffee Festival Returning June 1-8
The Ka’u Coffee Festival is returning to Hawaii on June 1-8, offering music, social events, cultural celebrations and coffee farm tours. The main event will take place June 8 at the Pahala Community Center .

A&H Launches New Capsule Filling Machine
Coffee capsule filling equipment specialist A&H has launched the AHR-1, a rotary-driven automatic filling and sealing machine for single-serve coffee cups. The machine launched for $18,105.
