Waveshare Pi5 Connector Adapter is a compact dual Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter for the Raspberry Pi 5 or Pi 4B that connects to the micro HDMI and USB-C ports simultaneously and provides access to two full-sized HDMI ports. The PCB also features a USB-C port and a screw terminal for power.
Previously, we have written about many unique waveshare products, including Waveshare 2-CH CAN MiniPCIe, the Waveshare UGV Rover, the Waveshare ESP32-C6-Pico and Pico-M boards and many others, feel free to check those out if you are interested in the topic.
Waveshare Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter specifications
The Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter features a PCB with two male micro-HDMI ports and a male USB-C port that enables a direct, cable-free connection to both the micro-HDMI and USB-C ports on the Raspberry Pi 5 board.
The Waveshare Micro HDMI to HDMI Multifunctional Adapter package includes a Pi5 Connector Adapter, a 100mm 3-pin cable, and a 100mm 3-pin squid cable. These components enable seamless connectivity and versatility for enhanced multimedia experiences. In the board, we also find two additional box-type JST connectors that are the breakout for the UART from the Raspberry Pi.
The Waveshare Pi5 Connector Adapter board can be purchased on Aliexpress for $5.88 shipped , on Amazon for $12.99. and on Waveshare’s official store.

a custom design case would have been a great addition
Makes me think that Raspberry Pi designs their products with suboptimal ports just to fuel the hat industry.
Yeah, feels like that sometimes. I get it though, things happen during development and without some kind of industrial design constraint you can just put features around the board willy-nilly and ship it. I would never, of course, LOL.
That said, this board is very cool and I’m going to order one or two. Makes the Pi4 way more embeddable for sure.
Pointless. Never had an issue with micro HDMI which is much more practical.
There’s no issue with micro HDMI cables per se, but most people have plenty of full-size HDMI cables, and fewer or none at all micro HDMI cables.
This board makes some flaws of the raspberry pi so obvious, it’s scary. It even offers screw in terminals to attach normal wires (bypassing the mostly too thin) USB power cables AND it adds a battery connection.
Wonder if it also implements some power failure feed-back so the battery can be used as UPS. Normaly soms pins are used for the purpose. All connections to the front is also a nice one.
Worst design decision ever on the pi was putting the ports on different sides.
Not really. It had it’s purposes with the Pi1.
With the memory restricted to 1GB the RPI3 was arguably still OK with such a weird layout. It still had space for a fullsize HDMI connector, although only at the side.
With the RPI4 it got really painfull. But in my opinion the RPI4 was iconic for the worst power connection ever (until the the RPI5 proved it could still get worse).
Where’s the m.2 connector? I have a similar board for my Pi IV and it has the ability to access NVMe Storage. Not seeing that here. Hopefully this version is cheaper than that one, though I doubt it.
Do you mean the Argon One M.2 Case?
I can see they’ve launched the Argon One V3 for the Raspberry Pi 5. Maybe it deserves another article although it’s around $50…
This makes sense for having all the ports on the same side. Alternate powering options is a good point too. They could have broke the audio signal from HDMI to a 3.5 mm jack. Thé Pi5 lacks audio output and when using this extension board with Pi4 the audio jack will be no more accessible.
