According to the report, a 38-year-old man was standing on an open platform on the third floor of the large open plant.

"The building is such where the floors are a mezzanine, meaning the floors open to the first floor of the building, similar to a loft or catwalk," the report said.

It said that while throwing the items, the man lost his balance and fell over the side.

Witnesses said the man probably hit the dumpster as well, which may have broken his fall before he hit the concrete floor.

The report said the man's injuries were life-threatening, and he was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.
