These Celebrity-Approved Pimple Patches Claim To ‘Shrink Spots Overnight

Fashion month may be over, but the one thing we're still talking about is the flurry of beauty style notes that will soon be making their way from the AW24 runways to the red carpet and beyond. Sure, there were plenty of avant-garde, experimental hair and make-up moments, which aren't necessarily the most wearable, think: Pat McGrath's unforgettable porcelain skin at the Maison Margiela show; the big, XXL bouffants at Marc Jacobs; and Simon Rocha's rose bush brows. But the runways were also awash with inspiration for everyday life, too. Our favourite? Pimple patches.

The acne-busting skincare essential was first spotted (pun intended) at New York Fashion Week, when celebrity make-up artist Raoul Alejandre worked with a team of MAC Cosmetics artists to create a look fit for a 'Dececionista' on the Laur catwalk, with bejewelled, glittery eyes, butterfly lashes and acne patches to match. Effective Pimple Patch

They made an appearance once more at Kiko Kostadinov's first international runway appearance at Paris Fashion Week. This time accompanying a barely-there make-up look to adorn the outer corner of the eyes. The patches in question are Starface's new Earth Star Pimple Patches, £9, and this is not the brand's first brush with Fashion Week.

In fact, Starface's now famous pimple patches were the first ever to walk a runway in 2022, when they debuted at Puppets & Puppets where the Black Star Pimple Patches, £10, were used by make-up artist Fara Homidi instead of face gems or body paint (they were also used in place of hand gloves) to create a fresh, futuristic look. But they've grown in popularity off the runway, too.

Only this week actress Millie Bobby Brown appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show make-up-free with nothing more than a purple pimple patch on her skin. The move to normalise acne breakouts and blemish-prone skincare, whether intentional or not, has been applauded online. Comments under the interview teaser on social media show a wave of support for Brown's candid appearance.

'The fact that she’s wearing no make-up is so wonderful. Gen Z is really working hard to untangle the patriarchy,' read one comment. 'Pimple patch! I wish we had those when I was a teen would have made my acne less embarrassing. Pimple patches are so normal now. And they’re cute!,' reads another.

But celebs have long been waving the pimple patch flag. Everyone from Hailey Bieber to Florence Pugh and Willow Smith have taken to social media to prove their reliance on the bright coloured skin saviour.

The convenient spot treatment works by covering your spot with a 100% hydrocolloid film - a material that, according to the brand, is clinically proven to absorb fluid, help reduce the appearance of inflammation, and 'shrink spots overnight'. Packaged in a refillable yellow compact with a mirror inside, Starface's Hydro-Stars are easy to use, just apply the stars on a clean, dry face and let them work their magic overnight. You can wear them during the day too, of course, but they need to be in place for at least six hours for best results. If two thousand stellar reviews aren't enough, scroll down and see the celebrities who love them, too.
