As you open Google Chrome, tap on the three dots at the extreme right of the menu bar. It will take you to an overflow menu, opening the carousel. Scroll down a bit, you will see an option Customise Menu. Before the update, this option was named as Show Frequently Used Items First. But now you can switch off the Smart Sort Menu Bar. This will then not mess up whatever you have chosen to see.
