Man falls into 10-foot-deep storm drain; Raleigh crews says cover collapsed, or was missing

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Firefighters rescued a man after he fell into a storm drain on Tuesday, the Raleigh Fire Department told CBS 17.

At 12:37 p.m., crews said they were called to East Millbrook Road near Leafcrest Drive in reference to a man who fell into a storm water drain.

When they arrived, they said they found the man in the hole, which was 10 feet deep.

The Raleigh Fire Department called in for a confined space rescue and lowered a crewmember into the hole for the rescue.

They lifted the victim out with a harness in less than 10 minutes, according to the fire department.

Officials said the man was stable and had no injuries after the incident.

According to investigators, the lid of the storm water drain had either collapsed or was missing, causing the man to fall.
