Wipe away the stress of cleaning laminate floors with these top mops. Flooring Accessories
Better Homes & Gardens / Henry Wortock
A mop might be one of the most valuable tools in your floor care routine, but it’s not a one-swipe-suits-all situation. In fact, it’s important to select a mop that works with your floor’s material, not against it. Made with resin and fiberboards, laminate floors might seem like a durable addition to your home. But in reality, they’re surprisingly delicate.
“With laminate flooring, mops are suitable, but use caution,” explains Kathy Cohoon, operations manager at Two Maids & A Mop. “Wring the mophead out until it is slightly damp and be sure not to over saturate flooring [and cause damage].”
Since some laminate floors can be scuffed easily, it’s important to choose a mop that’s soft enough to wipe up any spills without leaving any damage behind. We also spoke with Cohoon as well as Jessica Samson, cleaning expert at Maids.com, for their expert advice.
We tested almost 100 mops in our testing lab, evaluating each one of the mops on their ease of set up, maneuverability, performance, and portability. We continued testing the top performing mops in the real world for six months.
For more information on how we tested mops in our lab, check out our testing processbelow.
The scrubbing strips on the pad were extremely efficient in cleaning grouted floors.
The cleaning solution container got in the way while cleaning around and under furniture.
We were so impressed with the Swiffer PowerMop during our testing, we think it’s not only the best mop for laminate floors, but also the best choice overall. It earned a perfect 5 out of 5 star rating, wowing us across all categories: setup, portability, ease of use, effectiveness, and overall value.
The setup was so intuitive we didn’t even need to read the instructions. On our first use, we had to connect two poles into place to create the handle, insert the batteries, and pop in the cleaning solution tank. Then, we simply stuck a disposable mop pad to the mop head, and it was ready to go. The entire setup took us less than a minute.
While we didn’t test the mop on laminate flooring, it outperformed every other mop we tested on both hardwood and tile floors. On average, it only took us one or two sprays and a few swipes to fully lift each stain.
And unlike many flat microfiber mops, this mop includes a mophead with over 300 scrubbing strips to reach into grouted flooring and thoroughly clean up dirt and debris, a feature that impressed us during testing. After cleaning up apple juice, canola oil, and butter with the mop, we wiped the floor with a paper towel to find it completely clean.
The lightweight mop was incredibly easy to maneuver and push around obstacles, even without a swiveling head. However, we did find the cleaning solution canister to get in our way when mopping in tight spaces. Despite this, we could still mop under furniture thanks to the long mop head and handle.
Alongside the mop, the kit comes with a container of cleaning solution, two mop head refills, and two batteries. Keep in mind, the mop heads are disposable, so you’ll eventually need to buy additional refills and cleaning solution refills, the cost of which can add up if you mop frequently.

This budget-conscious pick features an adjustable handle and reusable mophead pads.
It doesn’t have a hole at the top of the handle, so you can’t hang it on a hook for storage.
If you want to make your laminate floors shine without spending a small fortune, reach for Bona Premium’s Microfiber Floor Mop. The microfiber cleaning pads are gentle on your laminate floor while the rubberized edges will prevent the mop from damaging your baseboards and furniture legs.
This pick also has a 16.5-inch mophead that helps you cover up to 40% more square footage than other models. During testing, we found it easy to secure and remove the removable heads from the mop.
A cleaning pad and a dusting pad are included with the purchase, and both are reusable and machine washable. While we appreciated how quickly the cleaning pad absorbed liquid, it wasn’t as effective once it was soiled. Because of this, we wish the mop came with a second cleaning pad to swap out during bigger jobs.
The handle is adjustable, making it simple to switch from mopping floors to dusting tall walls. Not only is it safe for laminate floors, but it can also be used on other flooring, like kitchen tile or hardwood.
“This [option] is versatile, affordable, and a great overall mop,” says Jessica Samson, cleaning expert at Maids.com. “It also includes a dusting pad that you can put on for a quick easy way to dust your floors and surfaces. This is a great low-cost option for anyone looking to get a great microfiber mop at an affordable price.”

Dual spinning mop pads can power through stuck-on messes.
This is by far the heaviest mop on the list at 11 pounds.
For homes with pets, kids, or simply family members who are a little messier than the average person, the Bissell SpinWave is a reliable, splurge-worthy pick designed to clean even the toughest spills. It holds a whopping 828 milliliters of cleaner, which sprays outward onto the floors. From there, two soft microfiber cloth pads—or two scrub pads for tougher stains—rotate in opposite directions to scrub the floors, loosening up dirt and debris from the laminate floor.
At 11 pounds, it is the heaviest mop on our list, but the cordless feature, as well as a carrying handle, makes the weight more manageable. And despite a heavy weight, we found that the mop maneuvered well around corners and tight spaces throughout our testing. This mop has a slightly longer run time for an electric mop at 20 minutes, but it does take about 4 hours to fully charge between uses.
The SpinWave includes a storage tray that will fit in a typical closet, and it also comes with four reusable, machine-washable cleaning pads. However, we weren’t impressed with how the pads cleaned up in the wash. The heavy stains from pasta sauce remained, the pads felt stiff and crusty, and we noticed loose strings that weren’t present before.

The pedal on this bucket is a hassle-free way to wring out excess water from the mophead.
The mop has a triangular mophead, not a traditional rectangular shape.
If you prefer string mops, O-Cedar’s EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop is the mop for your laminate floors. This mop has been featured in millions of videos on TikTok, and there are several reasons why it’s so popular.
Not only does this have a generous 48-inch handle—making it possible to mop those hard-to-reach places—but it also has a patented triangular mophead that makes it easy to clean corners, both features we found useful during testing.
There are also some microfiber strings on the sides, so the mop can also gently clean your baseboards. When testing the mop ourselves, we found the long strands difficult to clean completely before storing, so this may not be the best option for quick cleanups.
Unlike most string mops, which require you to bend over and wring out the mophead every time you need to add some water, the O-Cedar bucket features a clever foot pedal to squeeze the water out. And, thanks to the bucket’s designated splash guard, you won’t have to worry about excess water or soap damaging your laminate floors. Because of its innovative user-friendly design, this is the best string mop for laminate floors.

The Libman Wonder Mop is affordable and features a plastic wringer.
The handle isn’t adjustable.
The Libman Wonder Mop is our pick for those who prefer a more traditional mop. Strip mops have a classic design featuring a long handle and strips of fabric on the mophead. “[They] are built similarly to string mops but often with microfiber or fabric strips so when dry they are a great dusting tool,” says Kathy Cohoon, operations manager at Two Maids & A Mop.
Decked out with strips of microfiber cloth, this mop is compatible with a variety of flooring, including hardwood and laminate. Working on those stubborn patches of dirt? Each strip is packed with a special Gripstrip technology, which can reportedly lift 20% more dirt than other models.
Each mophead can be washed up to 50 times, so you can make the most of this option. If you need to add some extra water, take advantage of the mop’s built-in plastic wringer that will squeeze out excess water (though we found this required some extra arm strength to use).
During our testing process, we found this mop best suited for lighter messes. We appreciated that the mop is lightweight, making it easy to maneuver around furniture and carry from room to room. There’s also a convenient hanger hole on the durable handle, so you can easily store it on a hook. However, unlike other options on this list, this mop isn’t adjustable.
Product Details: Mophead Material: Microfiber | Weight: 1 pound | Handle Length: 62 inches | Care Directions: Machine-washable mophead
This lightweight mop has a 360-degree swivel head to clean hard-to-reach spaces.
The 400 milliliter capacity isn’t big enough for large mopping jobs.
If you want a spray mop to make cleaning your laminate floors easier, the Panda Grip Wet Spray Mop is a popular choice. This mop has a wide but gentle spray, so it covers more area than many other spray mops without adding so much moisture that it ruins your laminate flooring.
This mop includes two machine-washable microfiber cloths that can pick up dust and dirt when dry and will clean and shine floors when wet. The microfiber also absorbs any excess water or cleaner so the floors aren’t left with streaks. The flat, swiveling head rotates 360 degrees to access beneath sofas, tables, and other areas that are difficult to reach.
At just under 2 pounds, this mop is easy to carry from room to room and we appreciated its maneuverability during testing. Its lighter weight is in part because it has a smaller reservoir. The reservoir holds about 400 milliliters of water or cleaner, which should be plenty for quick cleanups. If it’s a deep-cleaning type of day, you may need to run back to the sink to refill the reservoir during your cleaning session.
While this spray mop for laminate flooring does include a 50-inch handle, it isn’t adjustable, and we found it a bit uncomfortable to hold during testing. It comes in four colors—red, blue, green, and purple—to pick from. Overall, if you’re looking for a simple mop that does the job, this is a great pick.

This cordless mop doubles as a vacuum cleaner for hard floors.
The mop pads are not reusable.
The Shark Vacmop is part vacuum, part mop. This electric mop for laminate floors first works like a vacuum, sucking up any dirt, dust, or other particles and trapping them into the disposable pad at the base of the device. The mop also includes a reservoir that holds about 350 milliliters of the included multi-surface cleaning solution, which you can spray onto floors before mopping with the same cleaning pad.
Another perk for this mop is the LED headlights, which you can use to spot messes beneath furniture or in poorly lit spaces. Keep in mind that the mop takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge, according to the manufacturer, and will run continuously for about 13 minutes while cleaning.
During testing, we noted that the button needs to be held down in order to vacuum, which isn’t ideal for longer sessions. Because of this, we think this pick is best for quick, one-off cleanings.
The vacuum weighs about 3 pounds and is cordless with a swiveling head, so it’s easily maneuverable—a feature we appreciated throughout our testing. One drawback to this mop is that it uses disposable pads, so you’ll have a recurring cost. If you don’t want to touch dirt and grime, though, you’ll like that this mop has a button to dispose of the dirty cleaning pads.

It’s a quick fix for a small spill or stain.
These mop pads are disposable, so you’ll need to pick up a fresh pack of wet wipes.
Picture this: You’re carrying a heaping bowl of spaghetti when a few drops of marinara sauce fall on your freshly cleaned floors. You could break out the full-blown mop and start scrubbing, but Swiffer’s mop is perfect for the job at hand.
Similar to the Forspeeder, the Swiffer’s map surface head has a four-hole design where you can attach disposable mop pads. Not only are these pads prewet—that way, you won’t have to worry about exposing your laminate floors to too much moisture—but they also have a trap-and-lock design to keep any dirt the mop picks up on the pad.
During testing, we appreciated how easy it was to use this mop: simply attach a pad, wipe the stain away, and throw the disposable cloth in the trash. And, if you want to wipe away dust, pick up a pack of Swiffer’s dry pad refills.
The Swiffer mop has a hole at the top of the handle so you can easily store it in a kitchen pantry or closet so it’s within reach when you need to quickly tackle messes. Because it is lightweight and convenient, this is the our pick for laminate floors in need of a spot treatment.

It was easy to set up, and it performed well when vacuuming and mopping.
Only water can be added to the reservoir—not floor cleaner.
For those who want to make mopping as easy as possible, we loved the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Vacuuming and Mopping Robot during our testing. This device vacuums, mops, and self empties for hassle-free cleaning.
Right out of the box, we appreciated the helpful quick start guide that helped us easily set up the device. The guide came with a QR code that we scanned, and it prompted us to download the accompanying app. Once we downloaded the app, we followed the prompts that led us through the setup process.
When testing the vacuum feature, the robot vacuum suctioned up all of the debris in its path, and it transitioned smoothly from hard flooring to a rug. We also found it was effective against wet messes when we tested the mop feature.
It left behind pristine floors, but we did notice some syrup got stuck in the brushes that needed to be cleaned manually. The robot vacuum/mop only disperses water on hard surfaces, so we didn’t have to worry about rugs or carpets getting wet.
One detail to note is that only water can be added to the device—the instructions advise that adding floor cleaner to the reservoir can cause clogs within the vacuum. However, we maneuvered around this by soaking the mop pad in floor cleaner before allowing the device to mop.
Alyssa Kingham, one of our testers, was blown away by this robot vacuum/mop. “I hate to be dramatic, but this device has completely transformed my life,” she says. “The time I spent vacuuming and mopping my floors is now free for other activities. The device does a great job of cleaning every inch of my floors.”

Overall, the best mop for laminate floors is the Swiffer PowerMop thanks to its powerful mophead that reaches into grouted flooring to quickly and effectively clean up dirt and debris.
We’ve tested almost 100 mops in both our testing lab and in the real world to find the best mops for laminate floors, including seven of the eight included on this list.
To test the effectiveness of each mop in our lab tests, we spilled fruit punch and barbeque sauce on hardwood, tile, and laminate flooring samples, making sure to get mess into the grout. We let the spills dry, then used the mop to clean it up. For mops that required a bucket and water, we used warm water without any cleaning solution.
In our real-world tests, we used the mops to clean up messes like butter, syrup, and oil across a variety of flooring types. After cleaning up each mess, we wiped the floor with a paper towel to see how much debris—if any—remained.
While testing each mop, we evaluated its performance based on its ease of use, how well it cleaned in corners and tight spots, and its ability to maneuver around and under furniture. We also took into consideration how difficult it was to clean or replace the mop head. After evaluating each mop’s performance, we narrowed our list down to our top picks.

Different types of mops will work best for different types of messes. If you’re looking to deep clean, a traditional string or spin mop with a bucket is the best option, as you can clean the whole house without refilling or recharging.
Spray mops will be especially handy at wiping up quick wet messes, and electric mops are useful for cleaning with less labor. Electric mops may also include helpful features, like spinning mop pads or LED lights, to tackle tough messes.
Spin mops or mops with reusable or disposable pads have the added advantage of being easy to clean—no manual mop-wringing required.
When shopping for a mop that works with your laminate floors, the first thing you’ll want to consider is the material of your mop head. Since laminate floors are notoriously delicate, you’ll want to be careful about the material you use to clean it.
While there are plenty of options to choose from, microfiber is a consistent crowd-pleaser. Not only is this material super absorbent, but it’s also soft enough to keep your floor scratch and scuff-free.
There’s a reason why mopping your floors is considered a chore: You have to spend a considerable amount of time lugging around a huge cleaning tool, and your mop will get even heavier when it’s wet.
If you want to make your mopping session as easy and efficient as possible, you’ll want to consider the weight of your mop. The good news is that there are plenty of lightweight mops, so you can wipe your floors without making your arms sore.
Unless you want to contort your body to get your floors squeaky clean, a longer handle can make it easier to wipe under your furniture or those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies. Fortunately, some mops for laminate floors have telescope handles, making it possible to adjust your mop to your needs. An adjustable handle can also make your mop more versatile, and you may be able to use it for other chores like dusting walls or ceiling fans.
While most of the picks here have machine-washable mopheads that you can reuse, some have disposable, single-use pads or mopheads. Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference. While selecting a mop that has disposable pads may be convenient for some, others will appreciate reusable mopheads for their enduring sustainability.

You might’ve noticed that there are no steam mops included in our shopping guide. Unless you are a professional cleaner, Samson encourages you to forgo the steam altogether.
“If used incorrectly, you can cause irreversible damage to your laminate floors,” she explains. “The high heat of the steam mop and the steam itself can damage the floors.”
Though Samson says that there are some instances where you can safely use a steam mop on laminate floors, she says a general rule of thumb is to keep your clean steam-free. “It’s just not worth it,” she says.
If you’re trying to achieve a streak-free shine for your laminate floors, the key is microfiber. Microfiber is extremely absorbent, which is why it is so popular for cleaning. When the mop head isn’t absorbent enough, it can push the excess water and cleaner around, which is what causes streaks.
Mops with microfiber heads or pads will absorb excess water and cleaning solution, rather than pushing it around. After you clean your floors with water or cleaner, be sure to follow up with a dry microfiber cloth to keep streaks at bay.
Finding the right mop is only half the battle; it’s also important to pick up a cleaning solution that works nicely with your laminate floors. When it comes to finding the right formula, Samson says it’s important to avoid anything too acidic or abrasive.
“These types of cleaners will strip the coating off the floor and ruin the finish of your laminate floors,” she explains. Samson also recommends keeping buffers or steel wool far away from your laminate floors.
