GREENSBORO, N.C. — Brent Moore and his wife had just finished a major renovation of their home. The couple upgraded the kitchen and added a guest suite on one side of the house.

“My wife thought, 'Oh, we have a beautiful new kitchen. Our guest room is nice, and the front of the house is beautiful, and we have old garage doors,'” Moore said.

The old automatic garage doors weren’t working, and the paint was peeling. The doors looked awful and were a bit of an eyesore compared to the rest of the home.

The couple decided to buy some new garage doors and paid $7,000 for them. The doors were black and had windows.

After paying for the doors, Moore and his wife waited about eight weeks for the doors to be installed. Moore called after 10 weeks because the doors had not yet come in. The owner told Moore the doors would arrive soon and to call back in a couple of weeks.

“I called and they said, 'Oh we are having problems with the (garage door) company,'” Moore said.

Moore was told to give them another two to four weeks and to call back. Moore said he waited about five weeks but was again told the doors were not in.

“They promised they’d be in, in the next three to six weeks or something of that nature,” Moore said.

Again, the weeks passed, and the doors didn’t arrive. At this point, it was coming up on six months and Moore had no confidence they were going to show up.

”I’m just fed up with it, you know,” Moore said.

Showing more patience than most, Moore and his wife waited several more months before deciding to call WFMY News 2.

“We just wanted the doors,” Moore said.

After reaching out to us, we contacted the company and spoke with one of the managers. We told him Moore wanted the doors installed soon or to provide a full refund.

The process was still slow and took several follow-up calls but after about four weeks, the doors arrived, and the company sent a crew out to install them.

“Kevin Kennedy and his team were terrific. He and his team went above and beyond to get (my) garage door problem solved,” Moore said.
