US gases producer and distributor American Welding & Gas (AWG) has announced its buyout of Speed Industrial Gas, expanding its reach to Texan cities San Antonio, Taylor and Pleasanton. hydrogen sulphide gas

“We welcome our new teammates who have built a strong business in the rapidly growing Central Texas Area,” said a company spokesperson.

“AWG’s new Central Texas locations will be aligned with our existing Coastal Welding Supply and AWG operations in Texas and Louisiana, reinforcing our growth in this region.”

Across its three locations, Speed supplies a range of industrial gases including acetylene, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, in addition to welding gas mixture and bulk gases.

AWG’s 2023 acquisition of Coastal Welding Supply saw the company welcome CWS’s team of over 200 employees to its business.

Prior to the purchase, AWG bought-out Buffalo-based propane business Tricounty Gas, giving AWG its first standalone propane location in the state of Wyoming.

The latest acquisition comes during AWG’s 75th anniversary year. Founded in 1949, the family-owned firm operates over 100 retail locations and 22 gas fill plants located in 22 states.

The company distributes products including bulk quantities of cryogenic gases and individual packaged gas cylinders through its fleet of over 250 trucks and trailers.
