The MAStough line of chromium carbide overlay plates comes in various standard sizes and thicknesses, providing exceptional resistance to abrasive wear under moderate- to high-impact conditions: chromium carbide alloy plate

Almost any alloy/base plate combination can be provided, with base plate thicknesses 3-30 mm and overlay thicknesses typically 2-17 mm. Double-sided alloy can be supplied in all thicknesses if needed. Although S235JR (St 37-2) is the standard base plate, any weldable steel, including stainless and CrMo grades, can be used.

Chromium carbide overlay plate wear performance is a function of hardness and relies upon a densely packed primary chromium carbide microstructure. MAStough’s microstructure has been improved to balance impact and abrasion resistance.

With minor additions of manganese and other elements, the material has a high chrome alloy overlay with a nominal composition of 4.5 % C and 32 % Cr, attaining a microstructure and hardness of 60–63 HRC.

In contrast to hardened mild steel, MAStough can be fabricated and bent into various shapes to fit any application. Masteel provides a comprehensive profiling and fabrication service.

The competitive plasma profiling service can also include threaded holes, plug holes, and countersunk holes (with or without inserts). Masteel can also provide precisely positioned welded studs.

It is possible to bend without heat, which could lower the performance of through-hardened steels. Cones and pipes can be constructed and utilized as linings or standalone structures.

Any weldable steel, including chrome molybdenum and stainless steel, can serve as the substrate for the plate. Brackets and flanges can be added to the substrate utilizing conventional fabrication methods.

MAStough is among the most affordable overlay plates on the market and provides outstanding value when comparing thickness to thickness. Masteel will offer performance guarantees for its MAStough material in known applications.

The MAStough range is produced per EU quality standards using an in-house, cutting-edge testing facility. Each plate is provided with a comprehensive quality test certificate that is sent upon delivery confirmation.
