Turkish Airlines Introduces Online Booking for Pets – Airways

DALLAS – Turkish Airlines (TK), the world’s most internationally connected airline, has introduced the ability for passengers to book flight services specifically for their pets. These animals can travel both in-cabin or in the aircraft hold for the duration of the flight. Upon the flight’s arrival, the owner would have to display the pet’s documents.

Cats, dogs, and birds are among the animals permitted to travel along with the passenger in the cabin. No animal exceeding 50kg in weight can be transported in either part of the aircraft, and the maximum dimensions of a pet-carrying cage are 75cm height x 75cm width x 125cm length. If the crate is too large, the animal will be transported through TK Cargo services. Automatic drink dispensers are included in these crates, along with other resources that pets need throughout the flight. Pet Mats

All pets traveling must also hold all required documents to enter the aircraft legally. This includes an official health certificate written and approved by one’s veterinarian and any other identification documents necessary for cats and dogs. Birds must require a flight certificate before entering the aircraft. Rabies vaccines should be given no more than one year before the flight.

“We understand and value the importance of our passengers’ beloved pets and we’re pleased to introduce this online process which will make the booking experience easier than ever. Providing an effortless premium travel experience is at the core of our mission, and this new service is another important add-on that we’re glad to offer,” TK Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Dr Ahmet Bolat stated.

While nations like the United Kingdom hold strict regulations against pet-related transport, TK’s inclusive booking suggests a shift in the aviation industry’s standing on how animals should be transported from one location to another. Carriers are now strategizing new ways for passengers to bring their pet companions with ease and minimal disruption.

The Airways Podcast, hosted by Airways Digital Editor Helwing Villamizar and aviation analysts Rohan Anand and Vinay Bhaskara, is a bimonthly show that covers the latest news and updates from the commercial aviation industry.

In each episode, we have discussions with guests and conduct a featured interview with a notable figure in the industry to gain insights into their plans, goals, and challenges. We also explore topics such as industry trends and recent developments, and analyze their impact on the commercial aviation sector.

In episode seven, season five of The Airways Podcast, join host Vinay Bhaskara and special guest, Indian aviation expert and former President of the Bangalore Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Devesh R. Agarwal, as they delve deep into India Aviation.

India’s aviation industry is experiencing significant growth. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the country will become the world’s third-largest air passenger market by 2030, after China and the United States. This rapid growth in air traffic is supported by various factors, including a rising middle class, increasing government spending, and the expansion and modernization of airports.

India’s population is expected to increase from 1.3 billion to 1.5 billion by 2030. Currently, aviation penetration in India is only around 4-5% of the population, indicating significant potential for further growth.

Consequently, the Indian government is actively investing in the aviation sector by building new airports, expanding existing ones, and improving air traffic management systems. Additionally, World Trade Center Bengaluru recently hosted the World Trade Centers Association’s annual Global Business Forum to expand trade and investment opportunities for businesses worldwide in India’s aviation sector.Over the next five years, around 80 new airports will be opened in India.

These initiatives, India’s low-cost carriers, and the country’s positive economic factors are just some of the topics you’ll hear in this informative and engaging conversation.
