Rather, today is the day I open (or reopen) your eyes to the fact that the best tassel loafers are capable of adding a handsome, timeless, confidence-asserting exclamation point to any outfit. And while their roots go way back, there should be nothing stopping you from rocking the tassel look with the right pair of jeans and the right t-shirt. Unless you don’t have the right pair of jeans and the right t-shirt. Then definitely stop. Stop right away.
Yes, certain looks are best left to those with deft sartorial hands. And if that’s you, great. But more often than not, men’s tassel loafers are paired with semi-casual outfits. Either way, there’s never a bad time to brush up on the top be-tasseled loafer styles across six categories, is there? Of course not.

To find the best tassel loafers, I began by poring over dozens of brands, styles, customer reviews, photos, and even my own closet.
The resulting six pairs on this list are the best of the best based on factors that include but aren’t limited to comfort, style, material composition, durability, construction, and range of sizes. My top overall pick is the timeless and handsome Tassel Loafer from Myrqvist, followed closely by Cole Haan’s Pinch Tassel Loafer in the budget-friendly category.
Why they’re great: Myrqvist takes timeless styles and elevates them into something truly special. A perfect example of this can be found in the Swedish brand’s Tassel Loafer. Available in neutral shades, it’s a classic through and through. These handmade, Goodyear welted loafers are made for a lifetime and best deployed with either a smart jacket and pants or while going summer-sockless with dark jeans and a crisp polo.
How they feel: The leather sole and full leather lining work together to keep your feet comfortable all day long while the 100% leather outer will only get better with age.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: Myrqvist specifies that their Tassel Loafer runs about half a size large. While this specification certainly helps, I’ve found that the size-up, size-down game can often have mixed results at best.

Why they’re great: Italian-born Velasca goes hard on the details. Made of oh-so-fine Cordovan leather, the Ugialatt loafer features a waxed leather sole, Goodyear welted construction, and traditional details that won’t get lost on those who know. You’re working with three colors, each of which are going to look excellent next to your casual suit or billowy linen pants.
How they feel: Cordovan leather is exceptionally soft thanks, in part, to the incorporation of oils during the tanning process. This luxurious material coupled with the Ugialatt’s leather soles puts them in a league of their own in terms of comfort.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: At risk of stating the obvious, the finest materials, construction, and processes come at a price. But while Velasca’s shoes are going to set you back a bit more than several other brands, they’re still very well priced for what you’re getting.

Why they’re great: Offering another classic style, Cole Haan’s Pinch tassel loafer gives you the look and comfort you want at a wallet-friendly price point. Bass is what classic loafers want to be when they grow up. Since the mid-’30s, Weejuns have been doing what Weejuns do on the feet of discerning gentlemen everywhere. Today, not much has changed with these brogued leather masterpieces, and that’s a good thing.
How they feel: While the leather uppers are going to feel great out of the box, they’re going to get much (much) more comfortable with time as they conform to the shape of your feet.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: Weejuns have a bit of a reputation as being old-school and borderline stodgy—insomuch as casual shoes can be thought of as stodgy.
