The sneaky marsupial snuck away with an entire box of cookies from Tiff's Treats in Southlake, Texas

Early in the morning on Jan. 27, a security camera at a Southlake, Texas, home caught an opossum — the only marsupial native to North America — swiping a package off the porch.
According to a Facebook post from Southlake DPS, a family friend of "Dr. M" sent a package of cookies from Tiff's Treats to celebrate the 15th birthday of Dr. M's son.
"The gift came a little late in the evening when the fam was probably out celebrating, so it went unnoticed into the night…which set up a seemingly impossumable theft," Southlake DPS wrote on social media.
The agency added that when Dr. M's son woke the next day, he found "a bag of Tiff's Treats icing and a balloon, but no cookies. After a little junior detecting, the family found the mangled and empty bag of cookies in the side yard."
After finding the destroyed cookie package, the family checked their security cameras and uncovered the culprit behind the tasty theft.

Footage from a camera near the home's front door, which Dr. M's family shared with Southlake DPS, clearly shows an opportunist opossum burgled the baked goods.
In the clip, which Southlake DPS shared in its Facebook post, an opossum slinks onto the porch and starts sniffing the cookie delivery. After a few whiffs, the marsupial grabs the delivery in its mouth, shakes off the blue balloon, and drags the box of sweets into the darkness.

Southlake DPS closed its humorous post with a gentle warning to people getting packages delivered to their homes.
Pix "While this is obviously a cheeky little post, we hope it brings attention to making sure that you bring in your packages daily! If you're out of town, ask a neighbor to help out," Southlake DPS wrote, adding, "Have a camera like Dr. M! Without a camera (and if it wasn't food), Dr. M may have had to call us to come out and take a report and prevent us from real emergencies."
