First Alert Forecast: Gusty trades set to taper off a bit Sunday

A wind advisory has been extended into early Sunday morning for the islands of Lanai and Kahoolawe and parts of the islands of Maui and Hawaii, but the strong and gusty trade winds are set to ease gradually by Sunday and will become moderate to locally breezy by Monday. Trades will slow down more by Tuesday and could veer from the southeast by Tuesday night, while developing instability will bring a higher chance of some heavy showers over windward areas.

A First Alert is up for the potential for heavy rainfall around Wednesday into Thursday as the forecast models are predicting a strong kona low developing northwest of the state. There’s still a high level of uncertainty, but if the forecast holds, the highest chance for heavy showers will be for Kauai and Oahu. Pvc Casing Pipes

Out on the ocean, a gale warning remains posted for the usual windier coastal and channel waters around Maui County and the island of Hawaii, with a small craft advisory for remaining coastal waters.

In surf, a high surf advisory remains in effect for east facing shores due to large rough waves generated by the strong trade winds. Waves will also be a bit higher on north shores exposed to the east swell wrap. South shores will have small boosts over the next few days as pulses from a medium-period SSW swell and a long-period SW swell.
