James Newsheller Obituary - Farmington, CT (1936-2016)

Air Heatersclothes Dryers James Jerome Newsheller, affectionately known as “Jimmy,” 79, of Ocala, FL, and formerly of Farmington, CT, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in Ocala, following a lengthy and courageous battle with Diabetes and Heart Disease. He was the beloved husband of Susane (Ruzic) Newsheller. Jimmy was born December 10, 1936, in Manhattan, New York, son of the late Rudolphe Newsheller and Mary (Mihelic) Willson. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from American International College (AIC) in 1960. From 1961 – 1993, Jimmy worked in information technology and finance for the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford and was a member of the Traveler’s Men’s Club. During his more than 30 years in Farmington, Jimmy was an active member of the Farmington Republican Town Committee, past president of the East Farms School PTO, advisor for the Grace United Church Tweenagers, and baseball coach with Farmington Little League. An avid sports enthusiast, Jimmy played golf and tennis; loved boating, swimming and waterskiing; attended hundreds of sporting events cheering on his 3 children; and enjoyed following Boston Red Sox baseball and UConn Husky basketball. During Jimmy’s retirement years, he relocated to Florida and spent time traveling with his wife Sue across the United States and to Germany. Jimmy was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL, and was past president of both the Oak Run Penn-Del-Mar Club and the Oak Run Tennis Club. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sue, his daughter Cheri N. Crossley and husband Brian of Bridgewater, his daughter Jenny N. West and husband Ricky of Bethel, NC, his son Peter E. Newsheller of Tucson, AZ, his former wife Barbara D. Newsheller of Farmington, his sister Mary Ellen Chadbourne and husband Jeff of Harmony, ME, his brother Ernest Willson Jr. and wife Vyola of Belle Meade, NJ, his sister Elaine Williams and husband Kurt of Orange, MA, grandchildren Rachel, Alicia & Taryn Crossley; Magi & Devin Newsheller; Madeleine Patterson & J.T. West; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be held on Friday, August 12, in Aliceville, AL.
