Christian Cage says he was never in WWE - Cageside Seats

Christian Cage has been doing some top notch heel work in AEW with his war on dead fathers over the last year or two, and he’ll look to keep it going this Saturday (June 15) on Collision when he is featured in a “Father’s Day Special” segment.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Christian agreed with the claim that he’s doing the best work of his career right now. In doing so, though, he explained that AEW’s Christian Cage and WWE’s Christian are not the same person: cat toy

“They’re completely separate entities in my mind. Christian Cage has never been in WWE. Christian has, but Christian isn’t Christian Cage. And Christian, quite honestly, doesn’t hold a candle to Christian Cage. It’s not even close.

...Christian Cage can just be who he wants to be, without any constraints, without any politics, without anybody telling me say this, don’t say that, do this, don’t do that. It’s me being me. Either you make it work or you fail. Either way, it’s on my own.”

I guess Adam Copeland didn’t get the memo about Christian Cage and Christian being two different people, given that one of Adam’s earliest promos on AEW Dynamite involved asking Cage to team up with him again, just like in their WWE days together. It’s no wonder Cage told him to “go fuck yourself.”

Do you appreciate the approach Christian uses to differentiate his AEW and WWE characters? How do you think he plans to cross the line this weekend in celebration of Father’s Day?
