SHALER, Pa.— Several water main breaks across Shaler Township are under investigation.
Tuesday morning, there were three breaks on Wible Run Road near Marzolf Road, Perry Street and 1100 William Flynn Highway (Route 8) by the old Glenshaw Glass Plant. different types of fire hydrants
Videos obtained by Channel 11 News show that the break on Wible Run Road flooded the roadway, while the break on Perry Street was shooting water into the air like a geyser.
All three of those breaks have been repaired and those roads have since reopened.
Later Tuesday afternoon, Shaler police said they had another water break near the U-Haul on Route 8, not too far from the earlier break on the same road.
Update: 2:50pm The northbound Rt 8 water break is repaired and northbound lanes are open. HSWA is closing the southbound curb lane at U-Haul for another water break.
Shaler police say all of the breaks have been isolated, but some residents and businesses are without water. The Shaler Area School District should have water.
The executive director for the Hampton Shaler Water Authority wasn’t sure how many households were without water.
This is the fifth water main break in 24 hours in Shaler. A water main on North Hawthorne Road broke while multiple fire companies were battling a massive blaze at a house on the same street.
The water main breaks are under investigation.
