A Chinese company is offering a lift kit for the Tesla Model Y that adds up to five extra inches of ground clearance. RGB Led Light Pod
Chinese company Pu.Labo has revealed a new “off-road conversion kit” for the top-selling Tesla Model Y that’s claimed to convert the SUV into a “real electric off-roader”.
The package currently costs US$15,000 (~A$23,400) excluding shipping, and includes more than 30 parts.
It’s claimed to give the Model Y a lift of between 2.5-inches to 5.0-inches, increase wheel travel to up to 8.0-inches, as well as increase the strength of the suspension under off-road conditions.
Included in the kit are four aluminium upper control arms, four aluminium spindle gussets, four laser-cut high-strength steel lower control arms, two chromoly steel tube-style subframes, two rear toe link arms, and four 2.5-inch adjustable coilovers.
This off-road conversion kit for the Tesla Model Y is available to be shipped to Australia, though it’s unclear how long it will take for it to arrive as there is an estimated wait time of 45 days.
On the Pu.Labo website there’s also a mention of an off-road conversion kit for the Tesla Model 3 sedan, though you have to reach out to the company for more information on it.
As recently detailed, Tesla quietly updated the Model Y in China with minor exterior and interior changes, as well as range and acceleration boosts to certain variants.
The update to the Model Y wasn’t as drastic as the one recently applied to the Model 3 electric sedan. It’s expected a similar update to the Model Y, codenamed Project Juniper internally, is due during 2024.
Inside, the Model Y now receives strips of RGB interior ambient lighting on the dashboard, as well as a new textile dashboard material which replaces the wooden trim.
These interior changes are similar to what was recently introduced to the Model 3. Examples of these updated electric sedans are due in Australia between January and March 2024.
