JLR has signed a supply contract with Evtec Aluminium for the supply of powertrain components on Jaguar’s new line of electric vehicles (EVs), beginning in 2025. They include parts for a 4-door GT model as well as a luxury sedan. The deal is estimated to be worth $67m for Evtec, according to the supplier.
Evtec makes lightweight aluminium powertrain parts, EV packs and body-in-white structural parts for the EV, luxury and performance vehicle sector from its facilities in Coventry and Kidderminster in the UK. JLR is Evtec’s largest OEM customer. It also supplies Aston Martin, Ford, Bentley, as well as tier one suppliers including American Axle, Cox Powertrain and Dana.
“We are delighted to be a crucial supply partner in the transition to all-electric by JLR and to further extend our reach around the EV power pack and supporting architecture supply chain with them.” said Evtec’s chairman David Roberts.
In December last year it was announced that financial technology firm Blackboxstocks had signed an agreement to buy Evtec Aluminium. That transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024. The company said Evtec had existing orders worth $778m scheduled for delivery beginning in March 2024.
David Roberts will assume the roles of chairman and CEO of the parent company when the deal is complete, according to Blackboxstocks.
Evtec also recently took over the business of JVM Castings, a long-term supplier of body castings and powertrain parts to Jaguar Land Rover.
