Bristol has announced plans to construct a sound wall along the rail line on Trenton Avenue, following prolonged resident complaints about excessive train noise, writes Alex Irving for Levittown Now. Field Fence
The decision, revealed during the borough council’s Monday meeting by Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe III, aims to mitigate the disruption caused by Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor, SEPTA’s Trenton Line, and several freight trains.
The initiative is supported by a $1.7 million grant from Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, which will fund the construction of a transparent sound barrier.
This ADA-complaint project will not only reduce noise but also include enhancements to the local trail and streetscape along Trenton Avenue.
Mayor DiGuiseppe explained that the sound wall would extend from Green Lane to Garfield Street, though he emphasized that further sound studies and preparatory work are necessary before construction can commence.
