Individual quick-freezing food products can deliver many benefits for food producers — from new revenue streams and commercial opportunities, to improved yield and product quality.

BOC has been working in the food and beverage sector for decades. As a Linde company, we are part of the world’s largest industrial gases supplier with world-leading patented cryogenic freezers that continue to evolve and deliver greater results in flexibility, productivity and quality. Shining a spotlight on Linde’s CRYOLINE® CWI freezer which is changing the game for individually quick frozen (IQF) products. We are seeing higher demand for these products in the supermarkets and food industry, particularly with frozen fruit, vegetables, seafood and diced meats.

The impingement technology integrated into this freezer together with Linde’s patented CRYOWAVE wave motion makes this freezer stand out. Impingement gas flow technology is a new feature — this means higher velocity gas movement that delivers extremely quick freezing.

If you’re looking at increasing production capacity, upgrading an IQF system to something more flexible or entering the IQF market for the first time — we will share everything you need to know about the CRYOLINE CWI freezer.

CRYOLINE CWI operates on a vibrating, customised stainless-steel belt. This vibratory action creates a wave-like motion along the length of the conveyor, spreading your food product evenly across the belt. The product is then dislodged from the surface of the belt and surrounding products.

Utilising Linde’s unique approach to freezing, the food products are sprayed with liquid nitrogen rather than liquid carbon dioxide. By opting for liquid nitrogen as the cryogenic medium, the CRYOLINE CWI allows for an instant crust freeze on the product, locking in natural flavour and moisture and ensuring the product retains its high quality.

After the product is sprayed and begins to move through the freezer, it is then exposed to a high-velocity cryogenic gas flow. CRYOLINE CWI uses powerful motorised blower wheels and impingement plates instead of traditional fan blades to increase the static pressure and overall velocity of the airflow.

This wave motion can be turned on and off as needed, allowing the freezer to be used for other freezing applications.

It has a built-in multi-language touchscreen, with stored recipes containing operational parameters for all product types. Users can also see the current product, motor speeds, safety status, machine messages, selected operational mode and freezer temperature.

CRYOLINE CWI has been designed for modular installation making it adaptable to your space requirements with options to scale up as production output grows. Installations can range between five and 14 metres in length, making it more versatile while still delivering exceptional freezing performance.

With the impingement technology delivering high turnover and higher heat transfer rates, businesses can achieve extensive throughput in a small space. For example, in a 6m2 operation, your business could process up to 1.5 tonnes of product per hour depending on the food product.

If upgrading an existing IQF system or freezer, you can freeze more product with the same machine size and floor space — or achieve the same freezing production capacity with a smaller size machine.

CRYOLINE CWI is a versatile technology adaptable to a range of food applications. It is highly effective for meats, seafood and other IQF products. You can save on cryogenics with heat transfer rates two to three times faster than those of traditional modular cryogenic freezers.

This product has high throughputs for:

Hygiene and quality is a key focus for food manufacturers and end customers. CRYOLINE CWI is designed for ease of use and low maintenance with minimal cleaning effort. With sloping floors and centre trough drainage, it is easy to clean.

All internal components are made of stainless steel or polyethylene with modules fully welded, ground and finished. The freezer top also lifts vertically via an electric screw jack, providing full access to the tunnel for cleaning.

With decades of experience in cryogenic freezing solutions, BOC is committed to using our expertise and technology to help improve outcomes and productivity for Australian businesses.
