Metal plate falls on contractor’s legs during elevator repairs at Reed College in Portland

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A contractor working to repair an elevator at Reed College suffered serious injuries when a metal plate fell on them Thursday, according to officials.

Just after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to the college at Southeast Woodstock Boulevard. According to crews, a large metal plate had fallen onto a person’s upper legs, but by the time emergency responders arrived, people at the scene had gotten the plate off the victim. hwayang metal

A Reed College spokesperson said the victim was employed by an external contractor doing “elevator-related repairs” at the college.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with significant injuries but is expected to survive, according to firefighters.

No information about the victim’s current condition, nor what caused the work accident, has been released.

The college spokesperson said they wished the victim a prompt recovery.

“We will stay in touch with him and his colleagues as we continue to monitor any developments,” the spokesperson said.
