DENISON, Texas (KXII) - A rock and concrete crusher plant is awaiting approval for its application and for many residents, this is a time of concern.
Residents who live near the pending permanent rock and concrete crushers are concerned about the air quality and already damaged roads. “You can imagine the dust in and out of there and imagine the roads that they’re driving on especially if they’re full,” said Tucker Freeman who lives right next to the site where the rock crusher would go. impact crusher machine
This affects residents’ way of life... including beekeeper John Huckle, who lives directly across from the site. “Our farm could be gone as a result of this,” he said.
Huckle is worried that the rock crusher could disrupt the bees’ ecosystem. “The National Institute of Health had a report where they studied honeybees and the implications of cement crushing and there’s particle matter’s scientifically proven that attached to the honeybee as well as the honey products, being a honey farm right across the street, obviously, there’s a significant concern.”
Huckle said this is detrimental to everyone’s health. ”Flowers are out, bees are pollinating, grabbing nectar. This is the time of year where we’re collecting honey and when we process that honey, it goes out to stores and consumers and our families,” he explained. He said that it’s a beekeeper’s job to protect their bees by spending the time, money, and resources to supplement the bees, “not just for their nutritional needs, but parasites and other environmental needs and threats.”
“The science doesn’t lie. It’s right there. That’s very concerning for not just the bees, but for our children, our neighbors children. So it’s our hope and prayer that those decision-makers consider this as if it were their children living over here,” Huckle said.
