Mayer Brown announced today that leading energy lawyer Justin Tan, has joined its Corporate & Securities practice in Singapore. Mr. Tan joins from Clyde & Co in Singapore having previously worked for another international law firm in Shanghai and Tokyo.
With a strong focus on the energy, infrastructure and commodities sectors, Mr. Tan regularly represents multinational corporations, leading Japanese trading houses, and Chinese SOEs and private enterprises on high profile global energy and infrastructure transactions in the LNG, petrochemical and renewable energy space. The addition of Mr. Tan is the latest in a series of recent high profile hires in Asia over the past eight months, with eight new partners joining Mayer Brown during that period, six for the Corporate & Securities practice. This has included Hong Kong Corporate & Securities partner Joanne Du, and London Project Finance partner Myles Mantle, both of whom have an energy focus. Most recently in Singapore, Banking and Finance partner Soumitro Mukerji, joined the office.
Justin Tan - A Corporate partner with nearly two decades of experience, he advises clients on their most complex corporate, projects and trade activities across Asia Pacific. These include M&A, joint ventures, corporate and commercial work; greenfield and brownfield infrastructure petrochemical/LNG, renewables and infrastructure projects; and international trade in energy and commodities with a focus on trade sanctions and regulatory work.
He represents multinational corporations, top-tier Japanese and other major international trading houses, Chinese SOEs and private enterprises in the energy and infrastructure sectors, and Southeast Asia-based conglomerates with regional operations.
Mr. Tan is dual qualified to practice in England & Wales and Singapore.
