Teledyne e2v HiRel Launches Advanced Low Noise Amplifier for Space Applications

Developed using an advanced 90nm enhancement-mode pseudomorphic High Electron Mobility Transistor (pHEMT) process, the TDLNA0430SEP is a testament to Teledyne e2v HiRel's commitment to advancing space technology. The pHEMT process is well-known for its excellent high-frequency performance and low noise characteristics, making it ideal for sensitive space communication systems.

The TDLNA0430SEP is presented in a compact 8-pin dual-flat no-lead (DFN) package, measuring just 2 mm x 2 mm x 0.75 mm, and is qualified per Teledyne's Space enhanced plastic flow. Reflecting on this new launch, Mont Taylor, Vice President and Business Development Manager at Teledyne e2v HiRel, stated, "Today we're releasing our latest plastic space qualified LNA for harsh environment applications. With a noise figure of less than 0.35 dB coupled with ease of use from a positive single supply voltage, we believe this new product will enable system designers with a superior solution for a variety of applications including space-based communication, phased array radar and electronic warfare (EW) system applications." The new LNA offers outstanding performance across UHF to S-band communication channels (0.3 GHz to 3 GHz), delivering a gain of 21.5 dB while maintaining a noise figure of less than 0.35 dB and an output power (P1dB) of 18.5 dBm. This makes it an ideal choice for applications where signal clarity and integrity are paramount. The device operates with a bias of a VDD of +5.0 volts and IDDQ of 60mA, and an evaluation kit is also available for customer assessment.

One of the key features of the TDLNA0430SEP is its radiation tolerance, which is crucial for space applications. The device is TID radiation tolerant to 100 krad (Si), an essential attribute for satellite communication systems where components must resist the harsh radiation environment of space. This tolerance level ensures that the LNA can amplify radio signals with minimal noise and distortion, which are critical in maintaining the quality of digital signals in space.

Teledyne e2v HiRel's comprehensive portfolio of space-grade semiconductors, converters, processors, and related services can be explored on the Teledyne Defense Electronics website. The TDLNA0430SEP LNA is now available for immediate shipment from Teledyne e2v HiRel's DoD Trusted Facility in Milpitas, California, and can be ordered in commercial versions as well as with the option of Classes H and K-equivalent screening.

This latest offering from Teledyne e2v HiRel underscores their continuous dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions for the space industry, further cementing their position as a leader in the development of high-reliability components for critical space applications.
