A motoring expert has revealed a little-known car key trick, some modern cars have, that could keep you safe

The car whizz said that all you need to do is press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for five seconds to trigger the feature

According to the expert, in some cars, this will trigger the locking of all of the doors except the driver's door.

The TikToker explained: 'Girls who often drive alone be sure to set this function take out the car keys simultaneously press the lock button and unlock button on the key

'Hold for 5 seconds. The function of only opening the left front door has been successfully set.

'Press the unlock button again, only the main driver's door can be opened, the other 3 doors cannot be opened.'

The motor expert said this handy trick can help protect cars from robbers as they will not be able to enter the car from the back door.

In the video, the expert revealed a number of car key hacks to her followers which could help you in 'critical moments' - which includes how to start the car when your car key is dead.

She highlighted that many cars have a backup system which accounts for this problem, and you shouldn't 'rush to spend your money on repairs'.

Instead, all you need to do is hold your key fob against the 'emergency sensing area' which is usually just underneath the steering wheel.

After doing so, the motor expert said you should 'press and hold the brake' and your vehicle should come to life.

Be sure to check the manual before trying these tricks, as not all cars are guaranteed to have them

But be sure to check your car owner's manual first before relying on the trick.

The video has gained over 150,000 views and users flooded the comment section with gratitude.

One wrote: 'Wow I will try these,' while another said: 'Awesome'.

Meanwhile, some users pointed out: 'These are for specific car models. Not a standard for all cars.'

The TikToker has a number of other helpful car videos, from lifesaving tips to how to repair your car for cheaper.

It comes after a week of chaos for car owners in London after the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) which could see drivers with un-exempt cars charged £12.50 a day.

Protesters who are against the scheme damaged and destroyed cameras across London by spraying them with paint, covering the lenses and even wrecking the poles that they stand on.

Some owners of modern-day classic cars, such as late-era Minis, early Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 106 Rallye and even Harley Davidson, say they are being 'targeted' by the expansion and some say they will refuse to pay the charges.
