Today, I’m sharing the best slippers for women over 50. First of all, what IS a slipper? According to my dictionary, it’s a “comfortable slip-on shoe that is worn indoors.” Can you ever wear slippers outside? Yes! The key is the sole. Some of them are thin, which won’t work on wet or slick pavement, but others are for driving, etc. I’ve included some of everything; slippers for home and slippers that no one will bat an eye should you rock them at your local Target! Let’s take a look!
I had these UGG slippers for over two years, and they still look almost like new. I’ve worn them outside to take my dog potty, and I even wore them in the snow the other night. Mens Outdoor Winter Boots
These have a suede upper and a 100% Sheepskin lining. They are about as cozy as it gets, and I love that I can easily slip them on without taking the time to pull and tug.
You’ve probably heard of Bombas socks, but did you know they made slippers? My mom is all the time telling me that I influenced her to buy something…today I influenced myself. Lol! One look at these slippers and I hit the add to cart button. Another plus, they offer free shipping and returns when you sign up for an account. I bought the mediums, and I can’t wait for them to arrive.
These washable slippers from Dearfoam are definitely meant to be worn inside. Works for me; I love being home, lol. Dearfoam is known for super soft and comfy shoes, which is what you want when you’re lounging at home. These slip on easily and are machine washable!
How cute are these slippers? These are great for when you have your pedicure game on point. The corduroy and cross bow elevate these so that they’d look great with any loungewear. Of course, memory foam means they’re going to be very cushiony. I am showing them in vanilla, but they are available in nine different colors.
I think these are so cute, and when I read the design inspiration, it made sense. “Design Inspiration—Our classic slipper was originally created to keep warm by stitching some carpet pieces as upper to one slipper’s sole. After continuous updating, it has become iconic for its softness and enduring quality.” They DO look like carpet. I’m not the only one who likes them. They’ve been reviewed over 50,000 times and have a 4.6 star rating!
You gotta love a slipper named “Wicked Good!” That has to be the best description I’ve ever heard. They follow that up with, “Made from the coziest stuff on earth, our shearling-lined slippers are as good as it gets. They’re supremely soft, warm, and built to last, unlike similar-looking imitations, so you’ll enjoy their cozy goodness for seasons to come.” Since they have over 5000 reviews and a high rating, they must back up what they say.
These are simple and chic, but I didn’t choose them for the looks alone. These are made by Barefoot Dreams, one of my all-time favorites! These slides have a memory foam footbed and plush microfiber velvet all over. These come in two colors – carbon (pictured) and deep taupe.
I’ve loved everything I’ve ordered from Quince, and I wouldn’t expect anything different for these slippers. They have a suede leather upper with 100% Australian shearling lining and insole and a durable non-slip rubber outsole. These slippers are under $50, and they might be the best deal of the day.
I bought my first driving slippers last year, and I love them! I’m on the road a lot to see my grandkids, and I want something comfortable. The insoles are memory foam which means they are super comfy, and the sheepskin is breathable, keeping your feet warm and toasty. The sole has rubber knubbies on the bottom for traction. They come in nine different colors, including black, grey, and navy.
Here’s another offering from Dearfoam! With the shearling fur, they remind me of the ever-popular UGGs. I’m showing these in the color “sand”, but they are available in 19 others! Want something a little brighter? Try the hot pink version. 🙂
Platform shoes are a big trend at the moment and these are an easy way to get in on it. Priced at under $20 dollars, they come in five different colors and are labeled “outdoor friendly.” The platform is not particularly high, just under 2 inches.
This slipper is made by Birkenstock! It has a shearling lining that naturally wicks away moisture. People swear that Birkenstock makes the most comfortable shoes, and this one features a removable, cushioned insole with arch support. The description doesn’t indicate if it’s specific for indoor or outdoor, but it does have a rubber sole.
These slippers can definitely be worn outside for errands around town or inside as house slippers. My preference? UGGs are too nice to keep inside! The cozy lining is made from plush UGGpure™, a textile made entirely from wool but crafted to feel and wear like genuine shearling. Plus, they’re water-resistant!

I have driving moccasins that I try to only wear inside. I forget I have them on and go to the mailbox or across the lawn, they are so comfy. One of these days I’m going to get navy or tan, as I now only have black, having worn out my others.

My grandkids all love money for gifts. It’s impersonal but they get what they want. As far as house shoes I have to now use more expensive ones with real support. My plantar fascitis is acting up and my Vionic ones help it a lot. Dearfoams is a brand I like but can’t wear for too long right now.
I got my 13 year old daughter the dear foam Ugg dupes. Cross your fingers that the likes them, lol. I have LL bean shearling mocs and I love them.
I have been looking at the Bombas and think I will take the leap and purchase a pair! I also feel that gifting money for Christmas is too impersonal. However that is all my older grandkids request so what I do is buy them a small gift so they will have an actual gift under the tree & accompany the gift with a gift card. One of my sons and his family use a website where they put ideas on a wish list and that makes shopping for them super easy! Wish all my children did this, as stressing and guessing at Christmas makes me crazy🤪

All of these look great! I am one of the lucky ones with high arches so arch support is a must, even in my slippers. On top of that I have very narrow feet, which means that my feet get lost in medium width footwear, if there is no way to adjust them. I do love all of my Birkenstock’s! Vionic has indoor/outdoor slippers that Velcro across the top of your foot, so you can make the fit perfect. Since I do wear socks at night, year round, some of the ones you showed just might work. One of them just might end up in my closet. Slippers that can be worn outside are a big plus for when I need to take the dog out or walk to the mailbox.
As I age, I am finding that I can’t just run into a store and grab a pair of slippers, my feet require a little more attention! You have given us some great choices.

These are some cute slipper ideas and they look comfy. Because of foot surgery I need to wear something with an elevated heel, like a small wedge. I usually wear a pair of Clark’s wedge sandals in the house as my feet get too warm in regular slippers. Merry Christmas Tania. I have had the wicked good slippers for over 10 years. They are the best winter slipper EVER and beat all other brands handsdown! If you have cold feet like me, you will love how the sheep wool lining inside goes up to your ankles. Best ever!
